Guest dnoz
I have a 1912 Buick. Later in its life it was fitted with a Tillotson JR1A carb. I've been having trouble with it. Any suggestions for a substitute carb that may perform better? What about repair kits - vendor? Any help will be appreciated.
Guest imported_Joe Kieliszek
Hi,The literature that I have shows Buick models 28 and 29 as originally usingeither a Schebler or Marvel carb; Models 35 and 36 both usedSchebler. Model 43 (the big one) used a Stromberg. The earlierSchebler model D works decent with a few internal modifications aslong as you don't mind crawling under to adjust the mixture screwwhen the car starts to warm up.Also, the addition of a hot air intake pipe between the carburetorand the exhaust manifold (like the Model T Ford) greatly improvesperformance as it prevents icing of the intake pipe- especiallyif it is an aluminum casting.Best of luck,Joe Kieliszek
carbking
Joe - does your reference material state which model of Schebler (D or L) that may have been used; or do you have pictures? We have information that the 1911 used the model D; and the 1913 used the model L. We do not show which was used on the 1912.Jon.
