HB2357 is law in Arizona!

Recommended Posts

House Bill 2357, the emissions test exemption for collectible vehicles, has been signed into law by Governor Janet Napolitano.

The bill exempts vehicles over 15 years old from emissions testing in Arizona.

Previously, any vehicle that was built after 1967 had to be emissions tested in Pima (Tucson) and Maricopa (Phoenix) counties. The new law only applies to limited use "collector" vehicles that are covered by antique or collector car insurance. But it's still great news for us in Arizona.

Over here it goes back to 1976 and earlier for exemption. It WAS a rolling 30 year exemption but they just changed it. I have to wonder about a 15 year exemption. There's lots of just plain "old cars" 15 years+ running around that are not well kept classics in any sense.... confused.gif

Well, as is typical of our Federal Bureaucracy, the EPA has delayed the official enactment of the new Arizona emissions rule until all their red tape has been satisfied. The new effective date is the first of May 2007. A nice summary of all the issues involved with this legislation can be found on the Hagerty Plus web site. See this Hagerty Plus link for more information.
