Me and My 54 Roadmasters

I only recently brought home my 54 roadie and love your collection and enthusiasm. If any of those parts lying around need to find a new home, I would appreciate a "heads-up". I'm also wondering if you've recarpeted any of those beauties. If so,where did you get the rug? I'm starting with a great body,a leaky dyna,no rug, broken front pas./driver wing windows, and front door/kick panels that are totally wasted, but I'm greatly looking forward to working on this masterpiece. Any advice on parts or tricks for these old ladies would be very much appreciated.

Feel free to e-mail or P.M. me.

Welcome aboard Cory!!!

It's great to hear of another 54 Roady being "revived". Hopefully you'll share more about how you found it and some photos with your own "Me and My Buick" thread. And also if you haven't joined the Buick Club of America yet, what are you waiting on.The club magazine alone is worth the price of admission and is full of sources for parts and serrvices for these cars.

Re the carpets, no I haven't had to replace them in any of my girls as they are the originals and in good enough conditiion not to warrant replacement. My only problem is that they have shrank (or is that shrunk) over the years. I can't recall if they are Daytona or Grosse Point weave...the latter I believe. Somebody?? I'd suggest posting in the Post-war Tech or buy sell section for a source. I may can help you with some patterns for the kick panels. The leaky tranny may be due to it having sat for some time and the seals drying. Once it is ran they may swell and stop leaking. Or it may need a torque ball seal. Before running it on the road, check the rear end for tranny fluid contamination from the leaky tranny flowing through the torque tube. Do a search on here for leaky Dynaflow and I can almost guarantee you'll find some info about that. The fact that you are starting with a "great body" is a blessing. It will be a rare one if the front floor's aren't rusted through. The 54's were notorious for leaking around the front door just below the windshield. What are your plans for the car. Don't be afraid to tell if it is anything other than restoring back to original here as we appreciate any efforts to keep these Buicks ON THE ROAD!!!

Yesterday when I got home after work, I noticed one of the barn doors was open. I run down there, look in and my heart falls to my feet. Irene WAS GONE!!! This is the last picture I took of my Irene.

Irene.jpg

There was big truck tire tracks and scuff marks in the grass where someone had backed up to the barn and loaded her up. I called the Madison County Sheriff's office to report her stolen and was told that due to so many rednecks in Madison County getting drunk, forgetting where they park their car and repoting them stolen they now have a policy of requiring 24 hours after a car comes up missing before they can make a report. Sorta like a missing wife or husband he said.I told him I would call back in the morning.

Well you will not believe what was in my back yard when I walked out of the house this morning.

There

she

was.

Or at least it looked kinda like Irene.

But, but, but...................

She had been

PIMPED!!!!

IRENE HAD BEEN PIMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pimped.jpg

I was horrified!!! All I could find was a card on her that said

"Compliments of your German friend Diablo...hope you like it."

All I could do was cry. Rita came out and took me back inside to console me. Well I was in the house for maybe a couple of hours and

lo and behold when I went back out

this

is

what

I

saw.

2hourslater.jpg

I cried out, "Man what a chick magnet...Thank you Diablo!!! Upon hearing that, Rita comes to the door and runs them all into the woods.

But my main reason for posting is to ask this. Does anyone know where I can buy four more sets of these wheels and lowering kits. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">well at least the wheels dont look TOO stupid, and, the wheels and lowering kit is all that was done! body is untouched. maybe its acutally on hydraulics too so you can put her in a bouncing contest <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> LOL </div></div>

BODY IS UNTOUCHED??!!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> You evidently didn't count the ventiports. It now has a V-10 and danged if that ol' Dynaflow can't handle it. Me and a couple of them girls hit a hunert and forty last night and that ol' Dynaflow just kept right on a flowin. What was I doin, doin a hundred and forty you ask.... DUCKIN BULLETS that's what, Rita was right behind us. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Never knew that Volvo wagon had it in it!!

And yea, I looked for the bounce switch but couldn't find it. How about it Diablo, can she bounce?

I was so happy you haven't found it!! I attached that function to the seat adjustment knob.

Bouncing was the reason I brought her back to your barn and just wrote you a card. I couldn't stay any longer. I installed a suspension that can make her bounce, but got A LOT OF TROUBLE. We did some bouncing tests in the early morning:

First of all, have you ever wondered what this could do to the environment, when a heavy car (about 4300 lbs) like Irene bounces?? It causes EARTHQUAKES!

But thats not the worst part. All the girls wanted to stay in or on top of Irene and afterwards they were so mad at me because bouncing ruin their hairstyle!

Before they started beating me (with all pieces of wood they could find)

I took this short video with my cellphone

and ran away:

jump.gif

So, please avoid using the front seat adjustment!!

THANKS for the WARNING about the hidden switch but I?m afraid it was a little late. I got in her this morning to take her for a cruise over to the ?East Side? to show her off to all my newly acquired friends and homey?s and when I tried to adjust the seat she started bouncing. I tried to shut it off but it was bouncin so hard the switch broke off in my hand. Rita came out, started laughing and turned around and walked back inside(saying something about calling the local news station). To make a long story short, by the time the battery that powers the hydraulics wore down the local TV News, Fox Five, the Fire Department, Civil Defense and Homeland Security had arrived. The doctor said my head should stop bobbing within a few days and that I will likely be about 4 inches shorter than before. Oh, and Rita wants to know who is going to fill in that big hole in her back yard...where the barn use to be. Thanks a lot, Diablo..... El Diablo......

You my good man are a "Hoot" <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Lamar,

Are you claiming that with a couple of nubile young dates there was no bouncing going on? I find that hard to believe <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Why a V-10? There's room to slap another ventiport on her ... and you got a V-12 - how about two Supercharged 3800s end-to-end or side-by-side Tommy Ivo style! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I need one of those with all the "accesories" - wouldn't be grumpy anymore but what a way to die!

I'm not sure to thank you or not...with the site update, your post kind of forced me to go over the entire thread again...well worth the time.

So Lamar, are we looking at a 2008 calendar? wink.gif

Now that's a sweep spear.

On James, and be careful of Miss Rita's flowers on the way out this time

And your field of study is what, El_Diablo?

Guest El_Diablo

Yes, Sir!

Well, I studied computer science, German language, German literature and Sociology. The University of Bielefeld offered me to work for them, they have a lab for robotic research (in cooperation with Honda). But I don't know if I'll take it, I have some other options, too. Mostly in the finance business. A car hobby is expensive, you know what I'm talking about? wink.gif

MrEarl goes... to where? Guess!

Lamar looking out of the back window is priceless.

Hey Lamar - with all the '54s you have, you ought to be able to build this...even with a few "trunk sofas" to be created as a side project.

This time I have to defend Lamar... it was on Ebay Germany some months ago. I don't remember the price, I think it was about 3,500 USD or something like that. Really expensive, but the great part about it was that the lights are working!

Lamar, the chicks are of course in the hotel. They were afraid of Rita. grin.gif I had English for eight years in school (French for three years), but as they say in Psychology: Use it or lose it! If you don't practise 'your' languages, you lose them - sooner or later.

Unfortunately this limo doesn't exist, but it would be great to see one on the road! I calculated that this model (lets call it model 69XXL) would be about 394" long. The normal estate wagon now looks like a pocket version to me...

Ugh.. just imagine driving it in the city center of some old European town, not fun.. I never take the Roadmaster to central London (and that is not Ontario) it's either the train or the P1800ES (winter time it's the train for sure). Yep, there are lots of "Yank" limos here but I never got it -- they just plug up everything.....

Cheers Dyna...

PS: Lamar maybe I can be of help for your Calender, if you want one more babe beside wife and friend... grin.gif

Wouldn't that be a good little trip for you. Where are you, I forget. But sure come on over, I'm sure those round arch fender tops and hood can hold lot's more. The more the merrier I always say laugh.gif
