gpotter
The hydrovac brake booster on my 48 Imperial has be disconnected and brake lines piped around it. The car is exceptionally hard to stop. I have called a couple of supplier to have the booster rebuilt and they both say don't bother as did not work when new. Does anyone have experience with these boosters? I need direction as the car is not safe to drive as is.George
Guest imported_BaronvonR
I have the vacuum booster on my 1950 Imperial 6 pass and it works great. It had been bypassed when I purchased the car and it required more pressure on the pedal to stop the car. It was perfectly safe this way, however it just took more pressure to stop the car. I had the unit rebuilt and zinc plated by Power Brake Exchange in Calif. I think it cost me around $400 or so plus shipping to get it done. The boosters work just fine and I would reccommend you get yours done, so you can enjoy your car.
