1931 Chrysler Steering Wheel Removal

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1931 Chrysler CM6. I am having a heck of a time getting the steering wheel off the shaft. I have a puller and all it is doing is making marks on the back of the wheel. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help, Len

You need to spray the end of the steering column with a lubricant such as WD-40 very generously, maybe several days many times. Grab hold of the wheel from behind and pull hard as you or someone else hits the end of the steering column with a rubber hammer. Hit it hard. They can be really stubborn. I have had this method work for me, and I have broken a few wheels. Good luck.
