This is my mother's first car. Local thought is it is a Chevy possibly 1939. Any comments on the year, make and model? Was there a "back" seat (in back of drivers seat under the top cover)? What is the "S" shaped item at top left side of the car just ahead of the rumble seat? What is the angled projection piece (about 45 degrees) at top of the windshield? Thanks.

More likely a 1929, but someone will know for sure. The S shaped piece is an external support iron for the folding top, hinged in the center it is commonly referred to as a landau bar. The angled piece atop the windshield is a sheet metal visor to aid with reflections, rain, etc.

Gemt,

Bill is correct. That is a 1929 Chevrolet Sport Cabriolet. Along with the new 6 cylinder engine, the 1929 model was known as the International Series AC. And no, there was no "back seat" in the main passenger compartment other than the rumble seat which is shown.

Hey Rick, Explain the name "rumble seat" again. Was it where you best heard the rumbling of the exhaust or where you kept the "rumbling" of the inlaws at bay! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne
