Guest
I am new to Mopars. I am restoring a 49 Plymouth woodie wagon. Most aspects of the restoration are progressing well. I would am keeping it fairly stock, but would like to perk up the 218, 97 hp engine. I've been told the last two years Chrysler produced the short block 230 cu.in. six were the best.In what vehicles were these engines used? There are some aftermarket performance parts available. Any opinions on what works? Lastly, has anyone done a homemade disc brake conversion?Gerry
plymoth
Gerry, the 218 & 230 engine cyl. blocks are the same length (23").The only difference in the 2 engines is the stroke. A Chrys.250(25"block) can be used by moving the radiator ahead 2" by reversingthe rad. mounting bracket & drilling new engine mounting holes in the cross member.
