Keith L.
For those interested, there is a trunk lid for a "40 Zephyr on Ebay. I don't have the link. Just go to Lincoln Zephyr. Ends Sunday. I've checked the photo with my "41 3 window coupe lid and have determined it is for a club coupe, not a 3 window. The underside holes don't match and it has no holes on the top side for the chrome latches.(a giveaway)
imported_Phil Knapp
Trunk lid looks pretty rough but may not be as bad as it looks in the picture. The link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6763&item=2449956040. This same guy also has a 42/48 coupe (also pretty rough) at:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39405&item=2450107644
Rolf
'40-'41 club coupe and 3window take the same lid, but it is different than the 4 door which has inside hinges, coupe one is a lot longer, see picture, Rolf
Keith L.
Rolf, I see now you are correct reguarding the length of the trunk lids of the two body style. I thought they were different sizes because when I checked the ebay photo with my '41 3 window. I found that the underside skin was different ( Fewer holes and fewer hinge holes) I guess its just how the two are attached to the body that's different. I checked back on the auction and the lid sold for $35. One bidder. Not a bad price if you are in need of the decent lid and can drive to pick it up. What would be the approx.cost to send it from GA to CA? Hummmm?
Rolf
Yeah Kieth, I have never worked on a '40 or'41 3 window, but know the lids are the same as a club coupe, seems like the panels and trim inside of the trunk would be a lot different, as the side panels inside would have to be 2 to 3 feet longer, and I would imagine the back barrier from the passenger space to the trunk is different too, as the back seat does the job on the club coupe. That guy in GA's postwar club coupe is the kind the street rodders should be on the lookout for, but it looks like some Continental guy already found the front sheetmetal, you guys out west, don't forget Merv Adkins on that kind of stuff, he will be back in February I hear, good luck, Rolf
