Guest
I have a 55 DeSoto which uses the Eaton power steering pump. This is what all 55 DeSotos w/power steering came from the factory with...55 Chryslers used the same Eaton pump. I have a 56 Chrysler Vickers power steering pump which I wish to use on my 55 DeSoto. The Eaton pump has a male high pressure hose fitting, and the Vickers pump has a female high pressure hose fitting. They both bolt right up to the end of the generator. Other than the difference between the high pressure hose fittings, are there ANY differences that I'm not aware of, such as differences in operating pressure, type fluid used, etc.? I'd rather use the Vickers pump, as it's a cleaner looking, more compact unit. No one I've spoken with about this seems to have any authoritative answers. tdefoster@aol.com
