Guest
Does someone know if ignition timing advance SPRINGS are available for a 1924 12V NE distributor? My original springs are were streched out of shape. I put a pair of replacement springs on, but there is too much detonation at higher speeds. Any ideas?thanks,Daviddchompff@visijet.com
JB-ed
If they are like the springs on the 6V NE units, you can still get them at old auto parts stores. I found mine when the guy brought to the counter a collection of pairs marked by their spring tension. Yours are probably too light, thus too much advance. The 6V ones are 22 oz-in. Don't be going to one of the modern chain stores where the kid tries to look it up on the computer. Look for that old independent store and avoid telling him age of the car. I get away with "older Dodge."
