Hey Dale, I'd be really interested in a repro sign like that if you know where I can get one.

You might also put the seller on notice. He may not know (or want to know), but if you tell him and he goes through with the auction *still* -- hmmmm..

Dale -

I just sent a quick note to the seller, letting him know that there is a question about whether or not it is an original, and giving him the link to this site. He has good feedback, so it's probably fair to assume he simply doesn't realize it.

BTW, do you recall where you got yours, Dale?

Just a quick note... I also got mine on eBay sometime last year.

I know I only $22 for it. "milkman757" is getting taken for sure.

They are not "old stock" as Dale has said. They are quite new, but still worth the $20. Certainly not $70+ in my opinion.

Hey, I know Milkman 757, in fact I bought my '41 Zephyr from him a few years ago, he is in the LZOC, and a good friend of Merv Adkins, do you think this is enough of a rip-off to warn him?? Or what, he seems like a pretty sharp guy, has some very rare Zephyrs, what do you think?? Rolf

Gentlemen: This is the seller of the procelain sign (2443567549)

Let me start by thanking CBoz and Dale for their help in this matter. I canceled the auction this morning after all the controversy. I restarted latter.

I want to present the facts about this sign.

I purchased it from an authority saying it was original.I have retracted that statement. (I could have been duped)

The rest of the auto items I have listed are from the same dealer.

I have sent scans to people who say it is right. ?

I have heard from people who have said it is wrong. ?

To date I have got nothing conclusive to tell me either.

I have re-listed it as neither, let the informed buyer take their chance.

I cannot find any one currently who sells this item repro.

If any one has concrete information on this one way or the other,(name , maker, address, etc.) please

state it so that we could settle this issue. I will send interested parties to this sight to draw their

own conclusions.

Thank you.

Hi Guys, in an effort to put this porcelain sign issue to rest, and continue with our normal scintilating discussions of matters involving LZ's. My own opinion is that E-Bay is a real buyer beware operation, the horror stories are rampant of colossal rip-off's and great un-happiness, but saying that, I realise some find tremendous bargains there too, so it is in the eye of the beholder for sure, kind of like frequenting a Casino. I Would like to take this opportunity to thank Dee for the head's up on Earle Browne's stock of LZ parts, he seems to have a good stock of hard to find items, Take care everybody, Rolf

Did I hear that right?? We do not want to challenge erroneous advertising because it might limit someone's making a buck??

Please tell me it isn't so, this so called "Political Correctness" that is sweeping the nation these days, I hope is not extending into the car world too, set me straight please, Rolf

Under the EBAY rules MEMBERS:.....MEMBERS.....MEMBERS.......

I believe they are trying to infer EBAY MEMBERS on the EBAY site, using EBAY as a basis of contact thru EBAY membership and email contact to sell outside of EBAY or effect the outcome of a EBAY listing by openly slanderous remarks on the EBAY forum, or otherwise cost EBAY it's fair share.

I do not belive those EBAY rules out weigh the bill of rights, or the constitution. What I/WE discuss in public and or in private is as you so aptly put it not open to threats so believe me no threat was taken, implied or otherwise. If you feel the need to keep your mouth shut while someone takes it in the butt buying an item said to be genuine when you know it is not, that is your privilage, as well as it is to point out the misrepresented item.

EBAY, WALMART, MICROSOFT, all the rest have their rules. We have ours so thank you for not offering a threat towards us. mad.gif

I suppose DuckeRoot's message was aimed at me because I contacted *both* him and the top bidder.

The reality is that eBay is notoriously bad at protecting buyers' interests and will turn a blind-eye toward the "power sellers" (not the case here, but I've seen it.). Even when eBay gets off its ass to help, it's often too slow to have an effect on a *current* auction, so that's why I sent the messages when I did - before money changed hands and someone became *really* upset.

Dale -

I talked with Duckeroots via e-mail, and again, I think he's an honest guy (see his feedback) who just got caught up in a potentially bad situation. I need to remind myself how I'd feel if I was in his shoes -- I'd probably be more than a little defensive myself crazy.gif

Anyway, no harm and no intended foul, so I'm all for getting back to the Zephyr issue of the day, whatever it is.
