Can you get any more power from a zephyr v-12?

Ive heard they used to pull out the v-12s and replace them with ford flat head v-8s in order to get more power.

Replacing the V-12 with a flathead V8 resulted in less power but they were less troublesome. Most of these switches were done in the '40s and '50s by many who used their cars everyday as their main transportation and did not want to deal with the maintenance problems or the short life of the V12. No flathead Ford can match the smoothness or quiet running of a Zephyr V12 in good shape.

Dear Peecher,I believe the Ford flathead is quieter than the Lincoln flathead ,after all it is essentially the same engine with 4 less piston and rod assemblys bangin around. If its runnin RIGHT you have to look at the fan to see if its runnin.diz

As an old Curmudgeon, I sometimes have to laugh at the questions that appear on this site. The very restrained answer to your question is a resounding yes, of course my only qualification is that I was an avid V-12 and LZ street racer in the 1950's, so my information may be a little out of date, but V-12's generally have power potential, ask Mercedes, Ferrari and Jaguar, and there are others too. Any thing that can be done to a flathead Ford V-8, can be done and half again in a H-V-12 see attachment, Rolf
