CBoz
Well, enough sitting around and getting to know this car. I need to start doing something productive! So I guess I'll start on the mechanicals. So here's my plan:Do myself:* Generator (w/ conversion kit to solid state for third brush)* Starter* Transmission* Waterpumps (if I can get the right kits)* Oil pump (ditto)* Suspension / steering* Brakes* Carburetor (unless I see a nice, correct rebuilt one ready to go)Outsource:* Distributor* Rear axle / Columbia* Instrument refurbishment* Engine (want someone who will do a top-notch job, including line-boring and balancing, etc.)I started to crack into the generator tonight, just to see what was in store for me. The cut out cover was filled with dirt, and the pulley is frozen solid, so ought to be alot of fun here . But at least I have the original cut out assembly, which is different than the regular Ford units.I was also looking at the distributor, couldn't even figure out how to take it apart. Removed three screws from the coil cover, but coil cover still wouldn't budge at all. Think I'll ship the whole thing off to someone else and let *them* worry about it I'll try to take pics as I go through things to document the journey. AceCollins
Cecil,I would have Jake Fleming do the coil. He is good, cheap and has a fast turnaround. He did a super job on mine and he had very little to work with. Good luck on all the rest. I hope your final product runs even better than mine, and that will be hard to top. By the way, passed on the Columbia I was looking at. He was asking about $350 too much according to the LZ rebuild expert.Ace
DizzyDale
Dear Cecil,As long as your boxing up your coil use a bigger box and send it all to Jake.Did my distributor last year SUPER job.diz
DSpringer
Cecil,You're a great inspiration. Gotta get going on my '41 that's still sitting in the garage untouched 3 years after I built the garage specifically for restoring the damn thing. One step a time, huh?Dave
