AceCollins
My 37 gas filler tube is fine and the tank is as well, but the rubber tube that fits around the two and connects them is leaking. I am sure that I can get something that will work at a local parts store, but does anyone know the size and length it should be? Cecil, I think it is similar to those we use on vintage Mustangs, but as it is hard to get a good view of it, I don't know. Don't want to pull everything apart until I have the right stuff to fix it, so anyone who can provide me with the right size for the rubber tube would sure be a great help.Ace
CBoz
Ace - My rubber hose is not on there, but if you want me to go measure the diameter of the pipe, I'll be glad to do it and post. Just let me know via here or email. With regard to your carpet clips, I would bet dollars to donuts that they are the same as that used on Fords of the era. So the Lebonney interiors folks or Dennis Carpenter should have what you need. Let me know!
AceCollins
Cecil, if you can easily get to your tube and measure, that would help me a lot.Ace
CBoz
Ace -Was looking at my manual as well as my gas tank -- there isn't any rubber tube attaching them, at least origially. There is a little rubber gasket where the bent metal fill tube screws into the tank, but that's it. Someone must have modified yours at some time. Let me know what you want me to do. DizzyDale
Dear CBoz,I believe Ford and Lincoln made the switch from the threaded deal to the rubber hose sometime during production mid-year 37.Ace thats not to say your rubber deal is original,i think this was a problem area and could have been changed by anyone at any time. The original washer between the neck and tank is lead and still available.diz <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
