Help! Is anyone aware of any antique auto insurance providers that will write policies covering antique autos where the insured party does not own/drive another vehicle with "regular" insurance coverage? I've just acquired an antique car, and every vintage car insurer I've contacted requires that I also have a "regular use" vehicle. I live in a large city, walk to work, and rely on public transportation on a daily basis, so my antique car is the only vehicle I own and would be driven only on rare occasions. A regular insurance policy on my antique car won't give me the "historical status" I seek for registering my car, and opens up all sorts of other taxes, fees, and inspection issues that the "historical status" would enable me to avoid.

Welcome to the forum, FerdP!

Uh you have hit on a snag that most of us newbies stumble over occasionally. I have a pickup that I use, though not much, but were I to sell it, I would list my Father's VW since I take care of it periodically. The only thing I can offer is to suggest you get together with a family member, and insure yourself on their car. Then you can claim that car and insurance. ITs shady but works. I hope that helps. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Hiya FerdP - I have recently had a similiar situation. I aquired an antique car & don't have a drivers license. So here I am with a car - no license & my name on the title. But I can't insure the car because I don't have a drivers license.

Any antique insurance company I called said the persons name on the title must be a licensed driver. Hmm.. still doesn't make sense to me

Anyway I added my partners name on the title - who holds a regular drivers license & auto insurance on an everyday car.

good luck!
