Guest Posted August 2, 2003 Share Posted August 2, 2003 what guage wire should i use for replacing my 6 volt wire. from shop manual...white?,blue?,green?,red?,brown?,black?,yellow?. i would like to use modern copper wire for replacing old cloth covered wires. i like 6 volt and do not want to switch to 12. thank you for any info. Jon Robinson Posted August 4, 2003 Share Posted August 4, 2003 Most of the wiring is 12-gauge with heavier wireing in the charging system and ciragette lighter being 10-gauge. As for colors, you'll just have to look at the original wires and replace them with the right colors. Hit the internet, "Hemming's Motor News," and look up Y&Z's Yesterdays Parts in Redlands, California, and you'll find modern-type wire that looks like the old cloth-covered stuff.
