peecher
For years Ford recommended "cylinder oil soda soap" grease for lubing the U-joint on Ford and Lincolns with torque tube drive. Does any one know what this stuff is composed of and what would be a good substitute? All I can gather is that it was some kind of grease with perhaps a "solid" lubricant added to absorb shock? DizzyDale
Dear Peecher,I do not have a clue what was contained in the old stuff,GOTTA believe any new bearing grease in a tube has to be better.diz
peecher
For any of guys that are interested in what cylinder oil soda soap grease is your might find the discussion about this in the early Ford V8 forum very informative. There's even a formula for making this stuff! Go to http://www.earlyfordV8.org/ click on the forum and go to the "ford" discussion.
