Big $$$ opportunity for LZOC

Nearly $200 for back issues of The Way of the Zephyr. This demonstrates just how little good information there is out there for restoring these cars. Makes me think *someone* could make some serious money merely by pulling the best how-to articles out, organizing them, and making copies of them. Any takers? I'd certainly pay good money for it!

I paid the $190+ for the 100+ copies of the "way of the zephyr" , I reckon they're good value at less than $2 a piece, the club sells back issues at $2 to $4.50 an issue depending on their age, so they work out slightly cheaper than through the club. However the cost of shipping to the United Kingdom adds somewhat to this.

Having owned a 39 LZ coupe for the past 2 years & been a member of the LZOC for the past 3 years, I reckon I've a lot of catching up to do. I find the "way of the zephyr" an invaluable tool in our hobby, & your correct, there's nothing on the market which can match it!

Looks like I've got a bit of reading to do!!

You're right, at that price they are a bargain. The ebay auction and interest only highlights how good a business opportunity it would be for someone with the know-how to edit a volume of the best articles. How about a *series* of books -- engine, interior, chassis, etc.

Anyway, if you balk at the shipping cost, let me know. I'd be willing to take them off your hands <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Verrrry interesting! It looks like a bunch of us were watching ebay on this item! I would have bid too, but I already have all these issues of TWOTZ. I'm glad that more than a few folks realize what a treasure Dave Cole has put together over the years. (Dave is an old personal friend of mine, we lived in Santa Maria, California in the 60's). I'll try to remember not to outbid any of you on future items!

Sometime when you have nothing better to do, go into yahoo.com and do a search on SCOUPEY. Check out the photo album on the 1939 Lincoln Continental Prototype. There are some other Lincoln photo albums there too.

My water pumps are in, rope gaskets soaked in oil, the clutch resurfaced and the radiator cleaned with leaks fixed. My 37 engine will begin to be put back together tomorrow. With any luck, the old girl might be running again by this weekend. What a thrill it will be drive it home.

Guys, a couple of good looking heads on eBay right now. They just came up. I am new to this game and don't know what they are worth, but if you are searching for some cast iron models for your V-12, might be worth a look.

I would love to see pics of your car Phil and area that your friend is doing a super job. I have only had a chance to get my first two issues, but I like the style and substance!

Then please plant a bug in Dave's ear. He could split the profits with LZOC, and perform still another valuable service to the hobby.

Frankly, too much Zephyr knowledge is in the heads of individuals or in old issues of TWOTZ that may or may not be readily available through Dave. It's going to be hard to keep people interested in keeping the cars original if they can't get the info!

And if you ever want to sell your copies, let me know. Just don't auction it on ebay where I'd have to compete with Ace and others <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Ace, I'm sorry to of outbid you this time, better luck next time & good luck with your 37 LZ. What made the mags even more appealing to me was the favourable exchange rate at the moment, £1 to $1.67, makes good sense to buy now!

Don't be sorry you outbid me, I am just glad that someone is going to really use them. I take it that your car is the British right hand drive model. My youngest son (14 years old) has an internship at the Baylor University film school this year and is shooting a sequel to the great movie Rebecca using kids his age. It is a super project. As the film is set in England, he longs for a car to use in the film that drives on the right side of the road. As it is, he is simply using my 37 and having the actor explain that the car is an import! Let me hear more about the LZ and the UK when you get a chance.
