Car Running Better

Thought I'd post this, cuz for me its unusual.

After taking the car in for routine its oil and coolant change since somehow the red stuff turned to green stuff the last time I had a rad flush, and could not remember if it was from last year or the year before.

Also the gage told me it was running hotter, even under very easy driving. So I figured it was time for a Tstat change as well. Maybe the temperature damaged the old 195 degree one, who knows?

I wanted to switch to 185 degree, but was told cause of legislation that it would be impossible for my mechanic to get the part. So 195 degrees it was going to be.

I'm not sure if its the new oil (Valvoline 5W-30, full synthetic), the new coolent (green again <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />), the new thermostat, but the car is running at 192degrees, and no hotter. Also my fuel economy is up. Previously I'd get 7L/100km at 96km only, and anything above 104km/h 9-10L/100km. Now I'm getting 6-7L/100km at 96-108km/h atleast.

Sorry for jumping back and forth between imperial and metric, but since I've got it back from service, I haven't once seen it hit the usual 95 degrees C. . . 93 tops in the city and then it drops down to 89 C.

I remember reading somewhere that someones 4.1 Caddy ran unbelievably well 2 weeks before it croaked. Would you be scared?

I'll report if I notice any changes, or if things go back to normal. Through mixed stop and go city (more city) and highway I'm averaging 21.2mpg.
