Auburn, 851 four door sedan, This classic 1935 Auburn is located in Livermore, California and people are welcome to view the car and the additional parts by calling (925) 447-6670 or emailing jbcactus@c-zone.net. This Auburn was manufactured with the rear trunk option, the dual side mount spare tires, and the dual ratio differential. The odometer reads an original 70,000 miles. The engine number is GG2850 and the VIN is 2196A. The body plate in the back seat area reads, Central Manufacturing Co. body number C-80. The car appears to have been in a fender bender accident some time in its early history and a body and fender man probably installed a new hood and fender and then reworked the metal on the right fire wall section and door. He made the car look very good and with the hood closed, the tell tail signs of the accident are not noticeable. However, examination of the firewall side panel, and right front door does reveal the metal repair that was made. The car frame was not damaged. The car was driven for many years in this condition and in 1972 the engine was completely rebuilt and driven for a total of 10,000 miles and was then sold to another man in California, who stored the car in his garage for more than 20 years. It is believed that during this storage period, the aluminum head may have leaked some water into the engine and caused it to cease up so it could no longer be turned by rocking the car while in gear. An attempt was made to remove the head, but this effort was cut short because of the realization that money was short and repairs would not be able to be made. At the present time, most head bolts have been removed, but some still remain in the block and the head still has never been removed.

If the engine could be freed up and gotten to run, the car could be used as a regular driver and would look great with an inexpensive Rustoleum paint job. On the other hand, if a ground up restoration is planned, it is our belief that this should incorporate the extra body and some of the doors being offered in this package sale. The extra body (C-80 529) is all original and virtually dent free and is in superb condition with the exception of some easily repaired surface rust. The extra body includes the four attached doors, plus an extra right rear and right front door, also in mint condition with surface rust. This Auburn is very complete, but is missing some items such as the flying lady hood ornament, some trim pieces in the grill area, windshield wiper arms, and possibly a few other minor items which we may not be aware of.

In general, the car has most of the original upholstery, which is very well worn, but would serve very well as patterns for a restoration. Door hardware is complete and there are extra windows and window regulators. The car has the original running board rubber intact. All wheels are original. Five hubcaps are original and one is a replacement. Both spare tires have all the covering hardware attached. The four white wall tires have 9/16 inches of tread remaining. The car does not have the freewheeling knob on the instrument panel and it is not turbocharged. Additional items included in this package sale are a NOS or beautifully restored matched set of 1935 California license plates, two original head light glass lens, perfectly in tack original thermal bulb with attached red liquid glass tube temperature indicator, Motors Auto Repair Manual from 1947 which includes the Auburn and many other car makes, extra instrument panel for 1935 Auburn with a free wheeling knob, rubber moldings for covering around bumper mounting points, two original rear view mirrors, extra door hardware and trim pieces, extra window glass and window regulators, new distributor cap, original red tail light glass lens with white Auburn lettering, and two original chrome plated logo castings for the grill. The asking price is $6995. We can email you photos. Thank you, Jim Boehmke, Livermoe, California <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
