Guest
I've just purchased my first Chrysler. A 1957 Saratoga. Now the journey begins... What kind of spindles are required when crossing over from drum brakes to discs?Anne
Jay and Pat
Anne: I recommend that you do a lot of research on your intended conversion to "disk". As the brakes you are replacing are double cylinder(wheels), self-energizing (by design engineering),requiring little pedal pressure, absolutely the best of the day. The drawback is that the system is not dual master cylinder (a safety effort of a later time). I have no doubt that your Saratoga has power brakes, but that original unit hasn't enough power to energize DISK BRAKES up to what you're used to on your daily driver. PLEASE!!! DON'T FIND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY, DO MORE INVESTIGATING. look under AACA, PACKARD AUTOMOBILES, PAGE 5 OR 6, BRAKE PEDAL RELOCATION, CRAIG. READ EVERYTHING. GOOD LUCK, DUBOISTOWN PA. Guest
Thanks so much for the info Jay. I'll be checking into the areas you mentioned. This is all new territory and I want to do it right! Anne
