imported_Phil Knapp
I have never figured that one out. I always pointed that stud at the valve stem. It might be for easier alignment when replacing the wheel, they're pretty heavy.
Guest delson
The pointed stud is a safety item. To remove the wheel you need the special deep socket lug wrench. The commonly used wrench will not work.Don
Guest
Is it possible that the pointy stud might help you get the wheel on?Mike Rollins
peecher
My '46 only has that pointed stud on the front hubs? The stud is adjacent to the slot on the outer rim of the hub used for checking lining clearance. I wonder why there are no pointed stud(s) on the rear hubs as that pointed stud does help when mounting the wheel. Maybe Ford forgot it?
