THe above car has been through ebay a number of times, and has not sold. He has offered me the car for $8500.

I'm a bit scared of one thing however - he states the following:

"Frame still has rust and requires repair or replacement. If replacement, have found an excellent unit for $2,500. "

Is anyone out there familiar with the Mark II and can tell me about potential rust damage to the frame? The rest of the car looks rust free, and when i look under the car the frame looks intact.

I will have a professional look at it - but could use a lincoln knowledgeable person give me some feedback and what i may be getting myself into with this specific car.

From what i can tell a #3-2 Mark II has a value of 15k-25k - so this seems like a bargain - accept for the fear of the frame.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Peter

Sounds risky to me Peter, just my opinion. If the owner was concerned with the frame why would he do all this other work around it? Also, take a look at the March 20 Old Cars Weekly for a recent auction of about 40(!) Mark II's. Best wishes on this, these are fabulous cars, but I bet ANY work is big $$$. Todd C

Peter, you get what you pay for. Don't buy it. I'll sell you my Mk II for $27,500 and you will get what you paid for. Doc

i got a good look at the car.

although it's sitting in arizona its pretty apparent that the car was somewhere in the rustbelt somewhere... probably imursed in water up to it's doorhandles much of it's life. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

the body didnt look "too" bad. The frame was another matter. The box frame under the drivers door was about half gone. the passenger side had been repaired - with L-iron and a blow torch. the frame from the rear end back was replaced with a new section. (well done) The shock mount bar was totally disconnected from the rest of the frame.

Yes, i passed it up.

The car would be great for parts if someone is trying to restore a Mark II. The last price the car was offered to me was $5000.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Peter
