On my 70 skylark my passenger side tail lights got water inside of it blowing out the bulb and rusting the socket. I replaced the socket and put in a new bulb and now the light will not work correctly. When the brake or turn signal is actavated the outermost light works correctly but the the inner light now blinks buy (when the lights are turned on) going completely out and turning back on again. I checked the wiring about only a thousand times and I'm sure that its installed properly, even my brother check it and he could not find the problem. I,m also sure its not the bulb I tried three brand new ones. Could it be a falty socket or could the water in the old socket have messed up something else that controls the tail lights?

I've found that the only thing worse than the original GM sockets is an aftermarket replacement !

Scott, I think you either got a bad socket, or you have a ground problem where the socket isn't making good contact with the taillight pod, esp since you say it's rusted. I've gotten replacement sockets where the metal contact strip was bent or crinkled and the bulb didn't make good contact, or the strip was out of line with the grounding sleeve and when you turned the bulb to lock it, then there was no contact.

I've got a Chevy friend who I rag all the time about his 65 Impala's "winking" taillights. He calls it Chevy-curse.
