Centurion Posted January 19, 2003 Share Posted January 19, 2003 Okay, I know that these are not everyone's cup of tea, but the Flxible company built fewer than 50 1959 Buick professional cars. I am aware of only one or two others in existence, so when this one popped up, I had to share photos with you all. This Ebay listing has almost no information. The car is listed as a 1955 model, and "hearse" is spelled "hurse".The car appears to me to be the Flxible Premiere landau model, built on an extended Electra chassis. The landau bars are missing, but the attachment points still appear to be there. If you want to see it, watch the VH1 tv channel next time they're running the movie <span style="font-style: italic">The Temptations</span> (shot in Pittsburgh & Coraopolis). rocketraider Posted January 23, 2003 Share Posted January 23, 2003 A fitting last ride for someone's final launch into the heavens, I think.Other than Brooks Funeral Service here (who has handled burials for my family for at least the last 65 years) this is the only light metallic colored hearse I've ever seen. Theirs have been light green since the mid-50s. Most here now use silver or white Cadillac conversions. One uses deep metallic red with matching vinyl roof cover on all their cars.And forgive me saying this, but with that bustle-back roof, the rear view of the car reminds me of a 57 Ford station wagon <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Do you still have any photo's of that car? Remember how I told you once, that I grew up less than 3.5 miles from Loudonville Oh.?(The location that the "Flexable" Hearses were made). So I always was amazed at those cars when we would see them on car haulers been delivered somewhere! So I always luv seeing photo's of any make hearse. If you continue to search, however, you'll see a series of factory photos of the '59 Flxibles in a separate thread.This particular car turned out not to be a Flxible at all, but is instead one of two Comet coaches built on the Buick chassis in 1959. Brian, I've seen those photo's at the "Flexable" factory. Great photo's and I do remember also a '59 in wooster, Oh when I was prob. 10-12 yrs old never heard what happened to it though. Wish'n someday when I go home to visit family, that it would surface again! I know my wife would probably divorce me but, I would buy it promptly!
