Guest
I'm looking to replace the headlight switch in my 36. (not the actuator, the switch on the bottom of steering gear) It appears to be the same switch as in a Model A or early V8 Ford. Are these the same switches? Anybody have one for sale at a reasonable price?
Mike Cullen
BTW, that was my post looking for the headlight switch. I didn't realize that I hadn't logged in!
DizzyDale
Mike,Is that switch at the bottom of the steering column like a v-8 Ford? Please advise diz
DizzyDale
Mike ,I dont think too much goes wrong with those ,maybe a clean up with a tooth brush on the contacts would do it unless something is actually broken.diz
Mike Cullen
That's the one, I'll take it apart and check it out. I've been hesitant to open it up, it partially works now and I am surviving with it, but I'm tired of not having dash lights and they go through the same switch. DizzyDale
Mike,I dont know if the Zephyr is the same, but on our 37 Ford the dash-lights were controlled by a separate switch that was mounted in the dash.diz
Guest
Actually, there should be a wire in the loom coming off of the HL switch at the bottom of the column, that grows out of the same terminal for the tail lights or an adjacent one, and goes directly to the dash lights under the dash, so that when the tail lights are on, on either "ON" position of the switch, the dash lights should be on too, they should go off when the control on the steering wheel is straight up and down, and then everything should be off, the only under dash switch should be a rheostat that controls how bright the dash lights are, all the way dim will seem like an "OFF" switch, hope that helps, OC
