Compatability verification

I have been looking for an engine and other misc parts for my DB. I have located an individual through this forum who has a car he is "parting out". Can anyone help me determine if my car and his car are the same, DB made so many changes I am not sure of parts compatability. My engine is a C895-725, his is C886-501. My floor tag # is A829286, his A919666. My firewall # is 58242, his is 46181. I believe my car is a 1927 or 1928 "fast four coupe", it is definitely a 5 bearing crank, separate starter and generator and multi-plate clutch. My contact believes his car is a 1926 "slow four" with a 3 brg crank and overdrive on the trans. Can anyone out there help me sort this out? I am desperate for an engine block, mine is craked beyond repair. Paul <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

Please check what I present here with our technical chairman. However, from the factory serial number lists, here is what I see:

"Fast Four" which officially was designated the 128-129 series, started at Chassis Serial Number A-930728

Your car, A829286, and his A919666, fall before this, and so I will toss in my $1 bet that the engines, both being "C" engines, will interchange. But neither of you have a so-called Fast Four.

Thanks for the feedback - now I am totally confused. I have a 5 brg crank, 6 volt with separate starter and generator and multiplate clutch - and I was told that that started with the "C" engine. Perhaps someone has changed the engine in my car before I bought it. Does the 5 brg crank appear with the model before the "C" engine"? Can you tell if the engine serial number on my engine belongs in the car with the serial numbers I listed? Regards, Paul

I have more information and am looking for confirmation. I just received the catelog from ROMAR, the Car No. info seems to confirm your comments. My car (A-829 286) appears to be a 1927 "series" built in Dec. 1926. My contacts car (A 919666) is a 1927 "Series" also, but built around June 1927. The ROMAR catelog talks about a "124 Series", "126 Series", "128 Series" and a "129 Series - Fast Four". Do you know or can you steer me to someone who knows which series each of these two cars are? (124, 126, 128, or 129).
