1937hd45
Welcome! Glad there is a new member with a '28 Chevrolet. My guess is that it takes 3-4 weeks for the paperwork to get processed. The end of the year has all the renewals coming in so I may be even longer.

R W Burgess
That's what I like about this forum. You've got intelligent people here who know almost all of the right answers, then you got me. Ain't got a clue. Wayne
1937hd45
Oh sure! I'm the genius heading out in an ice storm to Western Pennsylvania in a 24 foot Budget truck! Details when I return, never snows on I80, does it?
R W Burgess
I don't know about I80, Bob. But we have an inch on the ground here in eastern Virginia. It's not going to amount to much down here because my refrigerator is full of food and milk. I've got two guys up in western Pa, Pittsburg area, tonight playing in the snow. Guest Randy Berger
It doesn't snow on I80 and it runs downhill across Pennsylvania (both ways). One of our governors promised this if elected, and you know they always keep their promise. Be careful out there!YFAM, Randy Berger
R W Burgess
Weather no problem. My two guys headed back south at this time, 8:35am. We in Virginia only got about 3 inches. The radio man told everybody to stay home today. Will that hold up in court if I get fired? How about if I use the radio man for a witness? 1937hd45
Snowed all the way out saw a TR-6 on a trailer along with a Karmann Ghia. Put 801 miles on an almost new International 24 foot Budget Truck. Real nice riding vehicle, good road, nice country. Bit tired now.
Guest
37~Some guys have all the luck. The next-to-the-last rental truck I used (the orange and white variety) had way over a hundred thousand on it, the ashtray was overflowing and the dash was sticky with spilled coca-cola. I went six hundred miles holding on to the steering wheel with only my finger tips to avoid contamination, the outside mirrors had sagged the door frames down so an inch of outside was visible through the gap and every hundred miles or so the transmission would hop out of gear and the revs would zing up to about ten million. You'd say I should have refused it but I picked it up after hours, the shop was closed and the trip was non-cancellable. So I was stuck. Made noise after my return, but by then the deed is did, as they say in the NFL. The last one I got was from Penske and it was everything you'd expect from his outfit: clean, low miles, well maintained, no fuss. BillP
Guest
Yeah Bob, it never snows on I-80. That's why I-80 across Wyoming is called the Sno Chi Minh trail. hvs
1937hd45
I'm in a Budget rental truck at least twice a month, this used to be Ryder before the merger, great company. Wish the stock would get back to where it was when I bought in. I may be spoiled because the local gal that has the Budget franchise really goes out of her way to get trucks when they are in demand. Never look for a rental on the 1st or 15th. Nobody ever called me a clean freak, but I do go over the inside with an antibacterial spray, ya never know who the last renter was. You CAN NOT use a Budget truck to haul a car, read that fine print. Ever wonder why Armco is set at the hight is is? I know now.
R W Burgess
Glad you made it ok Bob. I just got in myself today, don't ask! By the way, what's an Armco? I'm dense you know. Wayne
1937hd45
Armco? Come on Wayne, that is the metal stuff that lines up PERFECT with a front wheel of a full size truck. They have it all along the highways and exit ramps. If ya tag it just right there is no mark, on the truck.
Peter J.Heizmann
Hi, Bob...glad you made it OK.h-m-m-m...a Karmann Ghia and a TR-6 on the same trailer. Gotta be a Brit married to a German woman. "You can buy that TR-6 ONLY if you get me a Karmann Ghia." I can picture the whole scenario. Poor guy. 1937hd45
Just reread my post from last nite, the TR-6 and Karmann Ghia were on seperate trailers going the same direction about an hour apart. Don't know if they were related or not.
R W Burgess
Sorry Bob, I'm a professional truckdriver. I only hit what I aim at, mostly "riceburners" that are destroying our beloved american musclecar industry. Durn turboed, aftercooled computer chipped party crashers! And Pete, you sure the German missis isn't having a spat with the handsome young Brit? Wayne
Peter J.Heizmann
Bob, at least they were going in the same direction. Seriously, to see any Karmann Ghia lately, that's unusual. Wayne, the worst case scenario would be his mother-in-law was married to the Chairman of Lucas Electronics. I shutter at that thought.I was told that if there were ever World War III, Lucas will be tapped to handle armaments. That way nothing will work, and, no one will get zapped.See ya'... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />
