Town 'N Country WAGONS!

Just a note to say there are no mention of my favorite second car, a Chrysler LeBaron Town 'N Country station wagon ("woodie"). I have three presently, the last I bought is a 1988 (last yr. of production) white, wood sides of course, with only 55k on it. I do not understand in all of forums there is only mention of the convertible model. This is NOT A VAN!. They are K-cars, FWD, with either a 2.2L, or 2.5L motor. One that I own is a "Mark Cross" edition, which means it has real leather interior, and what else I am not sure. It is recognized by a "MC" logo about the size of a silver dollar on front of headrests, and insignia on door panels. One of my 1987's has 143k on it, and runs 75mph on the open highway like it's nothing. Electronic dash(s) all three, two with auto stick on floor.

For some reason, this system lost me reply to you, so I'll try it again. I am the membership chairman for the Town & Country Owners Registry. Sorry I didn't see your question until now, but I was under the misconception that any posts here would automatically transfer to my e-mail address. Our club was founded to encourage the study and preservation of 1941-50 T&C wood-bodied cars. Soon afterward, the 1949-50 Chrysler Royal woodie wagon was added. About 10 years ago, our magazine editor noted that more 1983-86 LeBaron T&C convertibles showed up at his tours, than the original cars. In a sea of controversy, they were added to the mix. The 1951-up Chrysler T&C wagons have never been listed in our Registry, although many of our members own and love them. Now that wagons of all types are "hot", it is not likely that such wagons will ever be added to our Registry, because there are other clubs ready to do so. Personally, I have always liked the LeBaron T&C wagons such as yours, but, like a Corvette club, we don't write articles and set up meets for Studebakers. They have their own club. We're not "snobs". We are specialists. However, you don't need to own a qualifying T&C to be a member.<BR>John Slusar
