Richard S
Noted that with car stopped, engine on, temp reading notch or two from red zone and a/c on, engine cooling fans still operating at slow speed, not high. In looking at past posts, this would not indicate a relay, but possibly problem with ECM. Suggestions?
padgett
First you need to determine exactly what coolant temperature is being reported to the ECM. You did not say what year your Reatta is but for my '88 the coolant temp is found by displaying ED04 (see the FAQ at www.reatta.net for instructions on how to diaplay).
The '88 is supposed to turn the high fan on when the coolant reaches 108C (Low speed turns on at 98C.
There are several long threads in the past on warm running engines. Richard S
Yeh, Padgett, I checked the earlier posts, but they seemed to cover other problems. Mine is a 90 with a 185 thermostat. It generally runs right at midrange, but in hot weather with the a/c temp guage goes higher than it should. I'll check the actual temps when it happens again, but I am pretty confident it is not turning the fans on high when they should.
