Guest
Does anyone make patch panels, as in, rear 1/4 panels, and the toe kick/floorboard area, for a 1965 special convertible?
Also, how exchangable are parts off of a 2 door,or 4 door, of the same year, or 1964?
Thanks,Greg
Guest John Chapman
Greg,
Nobody is making quarter panel patches for the '64-'65 Special/Skylark.
Floorboards, braces and toe panels are common to other GM 'A' body cars of the same years (Chevelle, Tempest, Cutlass) and are available from a number of places.
The chassis and almost all sheet metal is the same on '64 and '65. Primary model year differences were the grill, rear panel, side trim and interior trim. The '65 Skylark has a unique tail light valance panel and front bumper/turn signal lamps.
Between the two and four door, the front sheet metal is the same. Side sheet metal is different, but I think the rear quarter dog leg panels will patch in.
Interior components are pretty much the same, but the 2 drs have different arm rests than the 4 drs. There are significant trim differences between the model years, though.
Cheers,
JMC
Guest John Chapman
Greg,
A good place to start looking for patch panels is Goodmark Industries:
http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/HomePage.html
If you're just getting started with this car, I'd also very strongly recommend getting copies of:
1965 Buick Chassis Manual (Special/Skylark)
1965 Buick Body Manual (same book for all GM, just different covers)
1965 Buick Parts Manual
1964 Buick Assembly Manual ('65 isn't available)
1965 to 1970 Motor Repair Manual (like Chilton's only better....)
All books are avialable in reprint form on eBay, and you can usually find the originals for a fair price too.
JMC

86 2dr.ltd
Another good tip John. I guess my B-body should have been a Ipmala.Maybe I could trade it in,,,,NOT! Ain't that just discusting you can get anything for a Chaffy, but nothing for a full size Buick or Oldsmobile.
