  1. Well Folks, It's been a while and I finally replaced the Blower Relay as suggested, with no change. looking at the scan provided, guess I'll do some back tracking. Again, all other Temp control ranges work. The A/C and Vent will respond to the toggle/slider arm to decrease and increase Blower speed. It's just the Heater function which only stays on the low setting and does not respond to Toggle/Slider arm movement. Thanks for all the help again. HenryJ ROA 11572 SoCal
  2. Bob and Rob, Thanks very much for the direction and manual scan. I see now which relay you speak of on the firewall. I will replace it and keep you posted. Thank you both, very much for the Info. I'll replace it and check back. Thanks Again, HenryJ ROA 11572 SoCal
  3. Yes Rob! Thanks so much. That is the part except that the one on my car has two prongs like a houseplug. I figured I might have to do the Ebay thing. Do you think I would be able to adapt this somehow, or should I just wait and hope another correct one shows up? Thanks Again, HenryJ ROA 11572 SoCal
  4. Howdy All, I have a 1976 Riv(455)S/R and my question is about the heater. I replaced the core and hoses. The vent works well and blows hot and on "High". When I go to use the heater, it only blows low speed. The vent works in all ranges as does the AC. I replaced the resistor as well; no change. I have a manual and it mentions some kind of "switch" at the back of the Passenger side head. Does anyone have a part number or source for this and/or name? It appears to screw into the block and has two electrical prongs on it. Will coolant leak out if I remove it, to show the parts guy? RockAuto, Napa, Autozone have all said they don't stock it. Thanks for any/all replies, HenryJ ROA 11572 SoCal
  5. Hello TH, I have one as well. Check the ROA website for info and production numbers. I beleive page 9 of the past posts has a link to some photos of my S/R. Any pictures of yours? HenryJ ROA 11572 1976 Riviera S/R
  6. Hey Dan and Jason, Those lights really sold me as well. Yes I found the build sheet under the backseat, soiled, in peices and stained. It is in one of the photos. I found the "Final Build Sheet?" on top of the gas tank. This sheet seemed to have more information. The car had not been started since 1997. That sheet is also included in the album. I had another member tell that he received a "Punchcard" with options listed on it. I had no such luck. Again what remains of the build sheet and the other Doc are in the album. You can supersize them to read the detail. Thanks, HenryJ ROA11572 SoCalif
  7. Hey There Ed, Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately my schedule will preclude me from attending this year. Perhaps next year or something more regional. Take Care, HenryJ ROA#11572 SoCalif
  8. OK Folks, It's up and running, but I'm still working out some kinks. I finally have some pics to share and I did become a member of the ROA, #11572. Great Club/organization and people. My 1976 Buick Riviera S/R HenryJ SoCalif
  9. To NTX5467, Thanks for all the time you took to reply! You have given me much to consider and I appreciate it. Thanks, HenryJ SoCal
  10. Hello All, I have this stock Riviera running now and I would like to update it to dual exhaust. I believe this is one of the reasons for it's low horsepower rating. A couple of observations; the crossmember only seems to support splitting the exhaust joint on one side. I still have to keep the catalytic(California) and have seen the -two in,two out type. Would this be better or should I try to find a cross-member from another year(doublehump?) that will allow me to dump down and back. Can I expand my searches to include LeSabre's and Electra's for this crossmember. Any and all suggestions are appreciated as I wish my 455 to breath better. Thanks, HenryJ SoCal 1976 S/R ROA11572
  11. OK Folks, I got it. Seems I failed to remove two bolts from under the hood. There should be a total of five from under the hood; one top left and two together directly across to the right and two more directly below those.(Asyou face the windshield) Also noted that I had a vacuum line connected to one of the threads so I didn't know it existed. Inside I removed the glove box and liner and assorted ducting/vacuum lines/ control cable and the heater box unit was coaxed out from underneath the dash. Inside there is also a metal bracket(two bolts) which braces the unit(it comes out with it as well) and two more bolts on the heater box that make this happen. Now to put it back together. Hope this helps or amuses someone. Thanks, Henry SoCal 1976 S/R ROA
  12. Hello Folks, Anyone have tips for replacing the heater core in my 1976 Riviera. I have a service manual, but it seems vague. Thanks in advance for any and all replies. HenryJ SoCal 1976 S/R ROA 11572
  13. Update on my progress, I dropped the gas tank to clean the fuel lines out and check for any gunk. Found the build sheet on top of the tank. Tank was almost dry, clean, and sender and sock looked great. Replaced the radiator and thermostat. Night before I added some WD-40 and oil, let her sit overnight, put in fresh plugs, and on the third try with a battery jumper, SHE cranked over and came to LIFE!! It smokes a little, especially by that valve at the back of the driver side exhaust manifold. It goes to a vacuum source on the manifold. Anybody tell what this is for or cshould I just remove it? Thanks HenryJ ROA11572
  14. The S/R's seem to be coming out of hiding. Take a look at EBAY #180165431003; 1976 Black S/R with Moonroof and red interior as well as Console. 130K miles and opening bid of $200 with reserve. Location is Fosston, Minnesota. FYI, HenryJ SoCal ROA 11532
