1939 Packard Twelve conv. sedan for sale on BaT
27stutz replied to 27stutz's topic in CCCA - General
Ha! Now the same Missouri dealer has it back again (unless the Kissimmee auction was just another charade and he never really sold it at all) and is recycling his listing from three years ago, including the bogus story about the original owner. No shame... -

Folks insist the chrome shell is not original - but it is. I had photos of this car in the 50s and the shell was chrome. Seems unlikely somebody would have chromed it pre-1955. From what I understand, the chrome shell was always an option and if you look at early thirties Packards many of them have the chrome shell. It was still an option in '39 but by then the aprons or sides or whatever they are called were one piece with the shell, so it was all or nothing for plating. I was slightly horrified when I first saw it but after I discovered it was authentic and I lived with it for a while, I grew to like it... -

I owned this car in 2003/2004. A great car although poorly presented by the current seller. I sold it to a fellow in the DC area who threw away the original green leather upholstery (it was in fine condition) to put in the brown. Then it was sold to someone in New Zealand. Everything everyone is complaining about (bumper guards, Lalique hood ornament, wrong whitewalls, trunk rack and trunk, Trippe lights and even the steering wheel) was added by one or both of those two owners that came after me. It came back to the States and sold at Gooding Scottsdale 2019 to one of the high profile dealers in Missouri who fabricated out of thin air the story that it was originally owned by Chicago Tribune owner McCormick (it wasn't - I have full ownership history), doubled the price and, I assume, sold it to the current owner. I will find some photos to post from my ownership... -
There's a 1939 Packard Twelve currently for sale (auction) online on Bring a Trailer. Car doesn't belong to me or anyone I know, but since BaT is very much comment-based, the comments section could use some expertise from the likes of the CCCA members who frequent this forum - the BaT community is mostly sports car guys. For Sale: Stutz DV-32 original unrestored
27stutz posted a topic in Automobiles and Parts - Buy/Sell
I am selling my 1932 Stutz DV-32 LeBaron long wheelbase sedan, at the Keno Brothers Auction in New York City this Thursday November 19. I bought the car three years ago from the daughter of the original owner, who had put the car on blocks in 1939. After 73 years in heated dry storage we got the car back on the road and drove it to Pebble Beach where it won first place in the Prewar Preservation Class in 2012. 23K miles since new. Completely original and unrestored. Top running condition. To see detailed photos, videos and description please visit the auction site: http://www.kenobrothers.com/auctions/1932-stutz-dv32-lebaron-sedan Any questions please contact me Jim Callahan / jc@piedmontpiano.com / 510-325-7490 -

I am reluctantly selling my two fabulous original unrestored Stutz automobiles. Amazing as it may seem, I found these two cars about ten years apart, both in the possession of their original owners' families. The 1928 had been in the garage on blocks for 69 years in Birmingham, AL and the 1932 in the garage on blocks in Illinois and Wisconsin for 73 years. Both are 100% original and unrestored and with both I won first place at the Pebble Beach Concours in the preservation class, the 1928 in 2007 and the 1932 in 2012. Both cars are listed on eBay with very detailed history and description and many photos.
