It's time to let this car go. I don't have enough time to enjoy the car properly. This car has been local since at least 1960s when it was stored in one of the airplane hangers at San Jose Airport before it became an international airport. After that it was stored in a small garage in the Rose Garden area of San Jose. That is where I found the car about 10-11 years ago. Since I purchased the vehicle, I have had all mechanical work done by a well known mechanic in the Airflow community. The wiring has been replaced with OE reproduction, rebuilt inline 8 cylinder flathead engine, rebuilt 3 speed manual transmission/overdrive units, braking system overhauled, fuel system overhauled, Optima 6v battery and electric fuel pump installed. This car runs, drives and handles well. It can easily do 65 mph when the overdrive is activated. The hood, grille and headlights on his car are from a 1935 model. It's unknown to me why the parts were switched as I do not see any evidence of a collision. The original 1937 model hood, grille and headlights were with the vehicle when I purchased it. This vehicle is a true survivor "barn" find. It's a true original and stock vehicle. It's so original that it was used as a guide to judge other 1937 Chrysler Airflow models during an annual Airflow meet that occurred several years ago in San Jose. I've done my best to continue with the survivor preservation. I've added a roof rack and period correct items/accessories to personalize the vehicle. I'm selling a collection of 1920s and 1930s antique body parts. There are Chevrolet, Triumph, Chrysler and Buick parts. There are lots of front and rear fenders, some quarter panels, dash panel, cowl panel, doors, fenders, hoods and trim. Selling all as one lot. Asking $1500 for the entire lot. These parts are great for restoration, swap meet, rat rod, hot rod, jalopy, sedan, car, truck, old school, roadster projects.

I pulled a dumb move today and drove into the garage with a loaded roof rack that is attached to the drip rails. Three of the four mounting points survived and I was able to fix them. However, the fourth mounting point really tore the drip rail. I'm sure that it can be repaired, but I'd prefer to find a good used drip rail, but know that might be extremely difficult. I'm going to file an insurance claim on Monday, but want to start the process as soon as possible. I plan on taking the car to a classic Jaguar restoration shop with hopes that they can repair the damage and match the patina. Also, is it true that the drip rail is just screwed onto the body? Do I have to remove the headliner to remove/install the drip rail? Lastly, does anyone sell the weatherstripping that goes inside the drip rail to cover up the screws? Any leads on 37 Airflow parts cars also greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Doors are solid, but will need body work to finish. Pass side door has been cut so that the lock could be removed. The metal pieces that were cut are now missing. You'll need to have patches made. The 2012 national meet was held in my hometown this past Saturday. I used this opportunity to meet up with other Airflow owners (mainly from the West Coast), as well as have my Airflow judged. Not sure what it scored yet, but it was no show winner. However, since it is an unrestored original survivor vehicle, a few judges referenced it a couple of times when judging other 1937 Airflows. It was a great show and I enjoyed meeting other ACA members. Here are a couple of pictures. From what I learned at the recent ACA national meet this past Saturday, the drip rail was a dealer option that was correct for the vehicle. At the show this past Saturday, I saw a 37 Airflow C17 without a drip rail and a few other C17s, including mine, that have the drip rails. Either way, with or without the drip rails, is correct. Personally, I like the drip rails, but to each his own.

It's bare metal. I think that I'll mount it somewhere for display for now and maybe take it out to sell at swap meets. It's still in good shape besides the break in it. Thanks for the info.

You're right, it is broken. Thanks for pointing that out. It's a clean break, because I didn't even notice it, and I inspected it very carefully. Not sure what it's worth now, if anything.

This is either a barely used or an NOS with heavy shelf wear. I do not see any kind of damage. The chrome is still good, but the gold could use some re-plating. Part is original and not a reproduction. Will fit any 1951 1952 Chevrolet car. Good for Fleetline, Custom, Coupe, Sedan, Convertible, etc. Price is $265 shipped with insurance.
