  1. 1963 Impala sport coupe, 283 CI 2bbl, powerglide. New interior, glass, brakes, HEI ignition, modern 605 power steering, suspension . . . all metal. Custom built dual exhaust running 30" glaspaks for that classic, but not over-powering, sound. Added rear sway bar for improved handling, seat belts for safety. A real classic cruiser. Not completely original but close. More images at http://rides.webshots.com/album/548317713YzuIRF?vhost=rides
  2. SS models had the antennae on the rear quarters. My 2dr hardtop sport coupe has the antenna on the right fender. The antenna had loosened and I was looking for a way to tighten it. Turning the "nut" on top did no good because the entire assembly turned in the fender hole. I resolved the issue by removing the passenger side kick panel vent. This allowed good access to the lower section on the antenna. Holding it tight with a vice grip I was able to remove the nut topside, clean and lube the threads, reinstall and tighten securely. Here's a picture
  3. In both of my posts I mentioned "right FENDER mounted". The antenna in on the fender not the cowl. Thanks for the kick panel idea, it might work for a fender mounted antenna too.
  4. Still haven't found an answer to how to tighten the right fender mounted radio antenna on my 63 sport coupe. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I have tried access thru the kick panel vent but there's no hole in the side of the cowl. The access, looking into the fender with the door open, is limited to nothing larger than a screw driver, noway for a hand to fit in there. I can see it barely but can't touch it. Via the engine compartment is futile. Even if I removed the inner fender I still couldn't get at it. Looked for images of the antenna on line but none were in sufficient detail to be of much help. Paged thru both of my factory service manuals which don't mention the existence of a radio, let alone an antenna. Do any of you Chevy-o-philes have any literature on how it's installed? If I knew assembly details I could design a tool to reach in and hold it while I remove the to decorative nut (I'm guessing it comes off with the aid of a spanner tool)
  5. My car is a 1963 Impala sport coupe with a right fender mounted radio antenna. It's loose and i haven't been able to figure out how to tighten it. I've tried other forums, my factory service manuals, and the internet in general . . not luck. Appreciate any help. THANKS
