  1. There are no pictures of the footwell of the rumble seat there. It is the same car though.
  2. I am reupholstering the footwell of a 1937 Packard Super 8 Convertible but amd having a touch of trouble figuring out how exactly all the hog's hair pieces fit together. If anyone can provide a photograph of the inside of a 37 Super 8 Convertible's rumble seat footwell area (or any other similar model's rumble seat footwell area), I'd be most obliged. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks all for the comments so far. From what I have read here, my problem will be prep. I can't sandblast the car car or anything since I am working on a car that is already partially painted and I simply don't have the equipment to do so. I put some of POR-15 on a very rusty gas tank after only brush sanding it, and it worked very well, but that was on a much smaller area that the region I will be dealing with. I'll definitely look around the forums more for additional info. Just one question though. I understand that between the 1st and 2nd coat of POR-15, you need to wait a certain amount of time. Too little and it won't harden too much and...well, I don't know since Idon't know when 'too much' is defined by? Thanks in advance
  4. I will soon be starting the daunting task of completing sealing the rear end of a 37 Packard with POR-15 chassis sealer. I know I have to put on two prep coats of POR-15 paint (think, black paint) and then a coat of the chassis sealer. I have wire brushed most of the surfaces that I will be working on and will be finishing up the wire brushing prep when I can. My question is if any of you have done this, do you have any tips for me? I have never done this before so I am flying blind, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Well, I've IDed the Benz, it is a 1928 Model K Saoutchik Transformable Torpedo. Turns out the Blackhawk Museum has one just like it: http://www.blackhawkmuseum.org/bhm/profiles/mercedes/mercedes26.html Any new ideas on the Hupp?
  6. Thanks for the recommendations. I was thinking of attacking it with a dremel tomorrow, I like the notch idea though. The biggest problem I have right now is that every clip has a center mounted screw except for one, and of course that is one of the screws that sheared off. Now I think I am going to have to fabricate a clip, which is important since that clip is essentially what bends the trim into place at the front. If nothing else, I can see why so many of the mechanics for these Packards were alcoholics, I'd need some refuge from this too if I was at it for long enough, methinks!

    It's a what?

After his company was bought by GM and he was later ousted, he decided to have the last word and create his own car company to rival GM. He did very well for a while, but later faltered in the car business and finally finished up building just trucks.
  8. I'm in the process of helpnig a friend replace the chrome trim pieces on a 1947 Packard Deluxe Eight Limousine and have run into some problems. All the trim pieces when on great, except fro the long hood trim piece on the right side of the car. The problem is all of the little bolts have come loose and are turing freely in the plates they are supposed to be mounted to. This is exacerbated byt he fact that there are nuts attached to them, and it is damn near impossible to get the trim piece off now because two of the trim clips are attached by bolts that turn with the nut. A clamp wrench won't fit, so I can't get the bolts to stop turning so I can remove the nuts. Any ideas on how to get the trim piece off, and then after that, how to get it back on with clips that won't fail like the parts it came with?
  9. While at the Meadow Brook Hall Concours this year, I took a lot of pictures, but neglected to take a good record of the cars I photographed. I identified every single one from the catalog, except for two, which I am convinced were not even listed in the catalog. The two I couldn't identify fully was a white Huppmobile boattail racecar and a black 1928 Mercedes Benz Phaeton (problably a 630K). Does anyone know the exact/proper names for these two cars? See the photos of the Hupp (three of them, front, back, and engine) and of the Benz (just the side)
  10. Thank you, kindly everyone!
  11. A friend of mine sent me this picture, inquring what kind of car his mother is sitting on (holding him, no less). I can't figure it out, any guesses? See attached photo.
