  1. NOT 35-120. 35-120 was single action.
  2. No interchange. I have a NOS pair if they are in your budget....$200 plus shipping.
  3. Yes. I think this is an interesting, and important, discussion. I've been in the hobby my whole life and have had a number of cars and car stories as we all do. Last year, I was bequeathed a Packard by a very dear friend. Reasonably valuable, thankfully the value of his overall estate allowed him to be generous. I will add that 1) I had no idea he was going to do that, and 2) he bequeathed several other cars to "unsuspecting", but deserving friends. Since then, I have made numerous observations of folks in the hobby, particularly as it relates to what we are doing with our cars. 1. Many owners/families have no specific plans to pass cars along to the next caretaker. I'm not suggesting selfish motives - rather to point out that unless we more than think about this and at a minimum put it in writing, let's just say an "estate sale" probably isn't what said person/s would wish to happen to beloved vehicles. In my experience, just one example, I tried for years to buy a Packard Woody Wagon from a friend. Unrestored, never moved as long as I knew it. I suggested many ways to ensure I would own it someday, up to offering to pay for it and letting it sit in his garage until he died, etc. Never could make it happen. Of course when he died suddenly, family auctioned the cars quickly. Car sold for about half what I was willing to pay, but at that moment I had other irons in the fire. How many times have we asked, or been asked, to be the next owner of a car...and then things slip away. 2. I know many older members who frankly could afford to give cars away - but don't. I'm not suggesting the big money cars in their collections - but there always seems to be something like a Model A, 47 Studebaker or a 62 Ford Falcon that would make a great "starter car" to bring a young person into the hobby. Of the few (a big concern itself) young people in the hobby, many do not have the finances to take that first step...c'mon guys....do I really need to point out the direction this hobby is going? 3. What about all the parts!! OMG do we all have that hoard of parts! I know we all have stories of the family who after selling the cars has no idea what to do with the parts in the garage/attic/barn, etc. At the minimum, I urge you to consider naming either the Marque club, car buddy/s, or other appropriate devisee for the parts. This specific topic asked if anyone had been gifted a car. I suggest we welcome other ideas/actions we have in place for our treasures...Personally, I have already influenced things to happen as above, both cars and parts.
  4. As Ozstatman links, to learn the truth, follow the link - safely to Packardinfo.

  8. I may be of assistance and I am not afraid to ship to the UK.
  9. I've typed this somewhere before - the issue is unless it is a dedicated restoration shop run as such professionally, your outcome is not a surprise. The issue is collision shops are run based on "book time", where the tech assigned to a job gets paid book hours, regardless of how long it takes, and the objective, obviously, is to beat that time. Paying a flat hourly rate at a collision shop just isn't going to work because of this, unless they are slow on work, in which case the tech's grumble about working on old stuff at straight time, and due to the demand for collision techs, they will quickly find a job elsewhere. One of my closest friends runs a large shop, 20+ employees. For the non-collision work, the rate is twice the insurance rate, and even at that, he turns away most restoration work - the "average guy" isn't up for what the bill would be. Reality car-flipping shows and auction hyperbole have further skewed what used to be a hobby into Hollywood dreams. If you find a shop that says they will do the work start to finish when you bring the car, great. Any mention of "later, when we're slow, when so-and-so comes back from vacation, etc, see above.
  10. Jim - thank you for the information. My guess is being in Ohio you ain't the guy who's gonna buy this, so please, tell me, as you are obviously in KF circles, who is the right guy to buy this? My most likely guess is someone in Southern California...transport costs on inop vehicles are otherwise pretty frightening. Thanks for your help. OH, and I have been in communication with the KF Club secretary who is going to post the pictures on the KF Club website. Hopefully that will help.
  11. An exceptionally solid Garaged Dry Southern California 51 Dragon needs a new loving owner. The car "running when parked" (garaged) was taken out of service for a waterpump repair sometime in the late 20th century. Since then, its new waterpump has been in a box on the floor of the back seat area. Many years of dust and flat tires confirm the mythical "barn find" condition. Yes, it has the Maroon dragon interior in unbelievably pristine condition. Cream steering wheel not even cracking. No vinyl top. Grayish cream color with Maroon top. Clear clean glass. Exterior will definitely clean up for preservation presentation. So do I have your attention? Good, because I don't know how to transfer the pictures that were texted to me into this topic, you're gonna have to PM me your email or cellphone for me to forward. Data tag model 512, Body 1, paint 614, Trim 2825. In a perfect world, you could bring your trailer or rollback with a strong winch to Corona, California the weekend of December 2-3-4 and bring home this unique vehicle. I'm trying to see if the tires hold air before then, and just how locked up the brakes may be, but NO promises on that, those kind of favors are hard to come by from far away. Price negotiable, "all the guys" say its a $5-6,000 car, yeah, I sure wish it was running too. Thank you.
  12. pictures are in the prior topic, and I have another dozen on my phone which I would be pleased to forward to you. Car has not moved, changed, or been touched since last photos, other than the most recent group of photos texted to me including the aforenoted data plates. And yes, I thought the T was significant to ID. The engine pictures I have are from the passenger side, where there is clearly a big EE-22 carburetor. Very tough to distinguish in the photos, as I could not see the distributor, or clearly count the spark plugs. Also some bad data on the internet, such as the carburetor shop suggesting it is a 6cylinder. I would greatly like to speak with someone knowledgeable on this car - Please pm me either phone to talk//text to, or email address. Thank you, DAF
  13. see update as a new topic. The car is now Really available...
  14. A long awaited update to the initial string a few down the list. Finally moved one of the cars blocking the garage and can now provide specifics as follows - 1. Hup tag Car No. T 5155, Body tag 411 12862. Best I can now understand it is a 1934 J-421. 2. Bumpers are there, said to be rechromed. 3. Rear seat bottom or back has been located., therefore best I can say is car is "nearly complete". 4. Paperwork is in order, California INOP registration and title. Time for this to go to the next owner. It is an extremely solid car, "running when parked" for interior restoration. (yes, by the dust no secret this was long ago) I have another dozen photos that were texted to me last weekend, and I have another car guy that will be "on-site" in a few weeks for followup questions. Remember, this is in Corona, California. Getting it extracted from the garage is not a straight shot, but I am working on logistics. It'd be great for an enthusiastic person to help with this when the time comes. Having it rolling and ready, pointed out the driveway just isn't gonna happen. Please contact me with your serious interest. Price will be fair, you must be able to arrange pickup, not just send a transporter.
  15. I have a Burr Ripley L-8 setup available if that is the direction you are headed.
  16. PACKARD parts and more Packard parts. Myself and several Packard friends will be vending at GAF20-24, very near the Packard Club tent. Heavy on 37-42 stuff. All sorts of Packard stuff, 28-56 as well as an assortment of other stuff...little bit of Pierce, Cadillac and whatzit stuff too!
  17. Hopefully an easy question .... is the hood the same on a 34 8 cyl vs. a V12. If not, how do I tell the difference?? Thank you. DAF
  18. Once I towed a Daimler sp250 from Dallas to NJ on an open trailer. The owner insisted on covering it and did so over my objection and release of liability. A good weatherproof soft car cover, bout a dozen straps, a bunch of bungee cords and I don;t recall ropes or whatever. I also had a windbreak on the front of my trailer, which is what probably contributed to a successful haul. Flapped a minimum, and arrived safe, but I would NEVER do this on any car of mine. I have seen a couple cars being transported with shrink wrap, like the boats, so it can be done. But that is a one. time deal, most likely. As also posted, I know there are a couple of "convertible" trailers out there, but I've only seen one in the flesh. Decent for local use, but I was not impressed enough for long distance interstate use..
  19. Hopefully less difficult than guessing the jellybeans in the jar... Can someone please advise the estimated weight for a 41 Caddy v-8, carb to pan, fan to flywheel, complete with manifolds, starter, generator, etc.? I need to ship an engine and my bathroom scale isn't up to the task...thank you. I'll weigh the pallet and crate separately...
  20. politely giving this a bump...still looking for one decent spare wheel. thank you.
  21. Paperwork status is being researched....years of files to go through. Louis has had many of these cars for far more than 10 years. His son is an attorney and is handling the paperwork. I was coordinating the restoration of the 37-120 convertible sedan when the restoration shop closed. One of those put everything back in the car and move it out. Very worthwhile project. The conv.coupe is an older restoration that would just fine to use as the mythical "driver". The 26 Pierce I believe was known within the PAS - Louis bought that only a few years ago, running driving, very original car. I believe the 29 or 30 sedan was also bought through the PAS 3-4 years ago...someone elses ground up/frame up restoration that Louis thought he might see finished one day. Kind of a rescue it mentality....Now it just looks like a pile of (clean) parts. The creme yellow 35 sedan was down in David Coco's shop for the interior, so he likely knows the car best. Would be worth asking him directly. Would someone please take an interest in the trailer...surely for the person who is bored with auto restoration...fun project for someone with some woodworking/cabinet skills?
  22. Surely someone will buy this unmolested original car... The next group of cars from my dear friend Louis' collection are now listed on-line. I know most of these cars first-hand, so I may be able to fill in few blanks from the limited pictures and descriptions. Please circulate the auction info to anyone you think may be interested in these cars, there really are some good ones... link is https://www.collarcityauctionsonline.c ... let/List.do?auctionId=754
