  1. I need someone with good research skills to help me find out about an odd 61 Valiant. A member of my discussion forum has recently purchased a 61 Valiant equipped with a 4 cyl diesel and a 5 speed column shift manual transmission. The car was purported by the seller to have possibly been a prototype, one of five made. The car is also right hand drive. It was apparently made for export. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have concerning this automobile.
  2. I have put together a small group forum on MSN groups for owners and lovers of early A-Body cars, 60-66 Valiants, Lancers, and Darts. Our group also includes the 64-69 A-Body Barracudas. It is our contention that the small cars designed for the slant 6 need not be the forgotten cars of Chrysler. The Lancer introduced the GT badge to Mopar, The 64 Barracuda actually beat the blue oval pony to market by 2 weeks, and the 61 Vals and Lancers dominated their class in NASCAR until the bow ties and ovals decided to quit when the "Granny" cars blew their socks off. I'd like to hear from a few A bod aficianados from here at the WPC. It's been my experience that Mopar Maniacs are the friendliest and most helpful people around. In that I'm probably tooting my own horn because I am clearly a Lancer Lunatic as well as a Mopar Maniac. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
  3. Thanks for the replies guys and gals. I don't feel so lonely now. As our Aussie brethern would say It's nice to hear about something other than a "Yank Tank" (30 gal tank American cars that pass everything but a Petrol pump). You have renewed my faith in the craziness of the old car community.
  4. I don't need to just find fellow Mopar A-Body fans. I wouldn't mind listening to and telling lies to owners of Falcons, Corvairs, Larks, or ChevyIIs. It just seems that Automobile organisations have forgotten the pioneers of the little big cars from the time of Ike,JFK,and LBJ. How about it, anybody out there?
  5. Were you able to contact Elk Creek? The owner is a very agreeable fellow named Harold Gaylean(pronounced like the ships in the Spanish Armada). He has a very good selection of 60's and 70's Mopar salvage there.
  6. The dealership is John P. Hughes Motor Co. now located across the James River from Lynchburg, VA in Madison Heights. If I am not mistaken their Va. Dealer License # is 0003. The current owner is the son of the founder, his name is Holcomb Hughes.
  7. Thanks choc-town, I realize that but I've known Dodge boys all my life and I know they can be helpful folks. Also I live in a town where the local Dodge Dealership has been in the hands of the same family since 1915. The original dealer's son now runs the place. Original dealer signed his franchise agreement with the Brothers Dodge themselves. He even keeps a '15 Model in his showroom. Might be a good place for the Dodge Brother Boys to get together.
  8. As you can tell by my username I have an unusual car to find parts for. Dodge only made the Lancer a-body for two years and a large number of the parts for a 61 are exclusive to the 61. I've been frustrated for a couple of months looking for a fuel tank for my 61 coupe. The 62 take the same tank as the Val and dart from 62 to 66, not so 61 model. The only Lancer I've been able to find east of the muddy Miss was a Station Wagon so the filler is wrong for a coupe. Has anyone found a good salvage operation in the east to help me out.
  9. My name is Nick Ware. I live in Central Virginia and have been intrested in classic and antique cars my whole life. I was probably genetically predisposed to Chrysler products because of my father. He was so Mopar that he bled blue when he scraped a knuckle replacing the waterpump on his 41 Dodge Luxury Liner. I currently have two older vehicles, a 1976 Plymouth Silver Duster I got for my son to restore and use as his first car and a 1961 Dodge Lancer 770 sport coupe. I also am the manager of an MSN forum dedicated to Early Mopar A-Body cars. I would be happy to her\ar from anyone with similar interests or information on these cars or the location of good parts sources for them. Tnank you.
  10. I am the manager of an MSN Forum on Early A-Body cars 1960-1966. I would like to find Early Lancers and Darts and parts cars for the members including myself. I own a 61 Lancer coupe.
  11. I manage a forum dedicated to Mopar a-Body cars 1960-1966 and I want to include the forgotten A-Body if possible. I need to find the owner of a DeSoto Rebel, the Dodge Lancer look alike that was assembled in South Africa. I know that it would be unusual for one to be in this country but stranger things have happened. Let me know if you have any information concerning the Rebel.
