  1. Sorry about the long time to reply. First I would like to thank everyone for their help! It's very much appriciated. We purchased building that used to be a Ford dealership and use the whole building as our shop. It's nice to be able to have all this room to move around (and to store more stuff!). The area behind the screen is just a metal bracket. Would it help if I were to take pictures of the screens and the area behind the screen in the car? I have a couple of part numbers: 25086163 - The part number for the screen in the car, I called the local dealer and had them look it up. It came up with the screen for an 86' Riviera. 25087664 - Is the part number for the 87' screen, as the dealer told me from looking it up. I can't imagine have a different part number for the same thing, only one year appart. 25087845 - Part number for the screen for an 88'-89' Riviera/Reatta, the one that won't go all the way in the dash. I had thought about putting it on the Reatta board also, but since this is concerning the older type screen that wasn't in the Reatta, I didn't know if they could help. From what I have been able to find out, you can't rebuild the 86'-87' Riviera screens. The general problem with them is that the actual tube goes out and you cannot source the part anymore. Tomorrow, I'll bring my camera up with me and take a couple of pictures. Thanks very much everyone! Nick
  2. Hi everyone, I stumbled across your forums when I had my 89' Riviera. Anyway, I'm going to fast-forward to now. I work at an independent auto shop and on the showroom floor we have an 87 Riviera. I've become the "curator" of this car, since I'm the only one here who understands it. The touchscreen in it went out and I was told the screen from the 88-89 would fit it. I had one left over from my 89' Riviera and attempted to put it in today. Well it connected to the car, powered up, and worked. The downside is, it won't go all the way into the dash. It stops short roughly 2 inches. Comparing the two units, the original one has a flat back, whereas the newer style screen has a black cover that extends about an inch or a little more out the back of the unit, I'm assuming for the back part of the screen. Is there anyway to get this screen to fit in here as I haven't been able to find any 86'-87' screens that are still good. Sorry for the long winded post, but I'm at a loss here. If anyone can help, I would greatly appriciate it! Thanks Very Much! Nick
  3. My 89 Rivie' did the same exact thing. Except for my sunroof motor had a bad gear and so there was a little gap at the top. Once I had it fixed and I could properly close the sunroof, the leak went away. They also blew out my drains, the rear right one was the one that had the most blockage. Hope this helps! Nick
  4. Hey all. Recently I was taking apart my Rivera's trunk to replace some lights. I had started removing the backing by the pulldown motor, before I realized the little holes right above the taillights. Anyway, shoved there by my trunk pull down was a brand new in the factory bag, never used, keyless remote. I have no idea where this thing came from. I saw it there and was basically stunned. I had taken one of the spare remotes from my Trofeo and programmed it for the Rivie already, so really there is no need for me to open this. Just a neat little quirk about my Riv. The only real thing I know for sure about this car is it was the dealer's demo car back in 89'. So my guess is that either they put it in there or maybe came from the factory? Nick
  5. I'll look for the lithium. I never even thought of that. Thanks! Yeah... I don't expect it to last... just an "I was bored for an evening" project. It moved so I was successful. I've been calling around on getting a new antenna.... roughly 133 dollars from the local dealership. I'm going to try and call salvage yards tomorrow. Thanks All!! Nick
  6. Sorry to hear about your loss. If you're interested in selling, would you let me know?
  7. Well, I actually did a little bit of ghetto rigging. I melted the inside plastic with a lighter and got the two broken ends fused back together. Well, when I did that there was a little excess on the sides. I did get it to go fully up and down. But in the final stages the parts bent a little bit and it stops the antenna there which is 3/4's the way extended. The more I thought about it, I decided not to fix it the rest of the way as when it gets to the bottom part of the mast it's extremely hard for it to go up and down. So it stops right before that parts extends and there are no problems. I'll eventually replace it with a new one, but for now this will do. If anyone has any tips on getting the last part to extend w/o problems then I'll probably take it apart again and fix it properly. I tried lubricating it first with Graphite that worked somewhat but not well, then used WD-40.... did better but still not right so I gave up and said screw it. Nick
  8. Yeah, it displayed my GR button. Well I messed with it a little bit and I got it working. Now if i could only get the antenna to go full length.. life would be great... but almost all the way is better than being completely stuck up. Thanks all! Nick
  9. Yeah, you push the two volume buttons again to get out of it.
  10. Thank you! I'll check that in a little bit.
  11. Hey all.... I went searching and found nothing that would help so I decided to ask. I have an 89' Rivie that had an antenna that stayed up all the time. Well, tonight I got bored, took it apart, and proceeded to fix the antenna so it would raise and lower. Well, I've got the antenna working, but now my radio refuses to do anything. No sound coming from the speakers, when ever you try to seek/scan it stays at whatever station it's at, you can't change stations except for using the presets, it says that the radio IS ON, but if it is.. I'm not sure. Oh, also I can only now get the antenna to raise and lower by unplugging and then plugging the powersource for the antenna in. I've disconnected the battery and then reconnected it thinking that might work.. but alas, no. Right now it's sitting on the street with a piece of duct tape on the inside side of the car covering up an antenna hole. So I guess my question is this... would the antenna not being completely installed and plugged in cause the radio to not work? The radio was working fine when I pulled it in, then once I touched it.... yeah. Any help is greatly appriciated!!!! Thanks Nick
