  1. Does anyone know if Diamondback Tires is any closer to commercializing their line of new Auburn radial tires with the scalloped edges?  I need 7.00 x 16 for my car but heard that they only have 6.50 x 16's.  I think they have been working on this style for multiple years, further back than I can remember.   Their catalog on the web says 2015-16  so not sure if there is an updated version.  Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the lead.  I am not sure about the style of the trim ring. Narrow or wider?  Contoured with ribs or smooth?  I am also told there are possibly multiple sources for 1937 Packard 120 hubcaps.  In the past I have purchased repro hubcaps for the Buicks in my collection and some have been outstanding and others just ok.  Any suggestions where to purchase a set of hubcaps that are done right.

    Thanks.

  3. Thanks for some very good advice.  I am leaning toward a Ford F-150 4 door truck with 4WD and a V-8 engine that I could also use as an everyday driver.  I am finding out there are a lot of 24 foot x 8.5 foot trailer options out there.  Must be quite a few manufacturers across the country.  I am estimating the Packard and enclosed trailer are going to weigh in at 8,000#.  I only wish my budget had room for an Aluminum trailer It also sounds like some trailers tow better than others.  I assume it must be the design such as location of axles or just how well it is built such as alignment of all components and suspension.  I would not want the trailer to be bouncing down the road every time it hit an expansion crack or small pothole.  I appreciate the experiences and knowledge being shared by others who have already traveled this road.

  4. I have a question regarding a top dimension on a 37 Packard Convertible Coupe.  I am looking for the measurement from the package tray to backside bottom of the rear bow taken in the middle.  The person doing my top asked me if I could find someone who might have that dimension.  I contacted a couple of persons I know who have Packard 120 Convertible Coupes and they sent me their dimensions but there is a two inch difference between them.  Hoping I can get 1 or 2 more and go with an average or maybe the most common of the numbers.  Thanks for your help.

  5. I am looking to buy a trailer to transport my 37 Packard 120.  Can anyone tell me what size trailer would be best based on their experience hauling a 37 Packard 120?  Length, width, capacity would all be helpful ?

    Thanks!

  6. I may be looking for something that doesn't exist.  The person doing the top is probably not going to be too happy when he finds out there never was a boot.  I thought I saw one on a 37 120 Conv Cpe when I was at a Packard meet.  The owner told me it was original but possible it was added by a previous owner.  Do you know where I can find a copy of the book  Packard:  The Pride so I can read the article?

    Thanks.

  7. Regarding earlier post, I have not heard from the person who was going to contact me regarding the mirrors.  I was expecting a message but did not see one.  I can send you a PM with my email address and you could send it on to them if that would help.

    Thanks for asking.

Regarding my convertible coupe boot issue, there apparently is not sufficiently strong material to attach the snaps to on the body.  When you snap the boot down using the snaps and try to remove the boot, the snaps pull out of the body where they were inserted.  They are not attached to the metal part of the body.  I sort of wish someone had a picture of what there boot snaps looked like and where they were located and installed on the car.  I am flying blind on this one.  98% complete with a frame up and now this road block.  Hopefully there is a solution and the top can be completed along with a usable boot that snaps in place and covers the top when it is down.

  8. The track, not sure if I am using correct terminology, that the snaps attach to or are part of is missing on my 37 Packard 120 convertible coupe.  Apparently the metal was badly rusted.  Is this something that is available?  I am not sure if I am even asking the correct question.  I was talking to the person who is doing my top and he told me he wasn't able to attach the snaps without them pulling out because the strip was missing that is about 1/4" thick x 1/2" wide and the metal track was gone.  Maybe someone could enlighten me with a picture or a sketch.  I apologize for being in the fog but I was not able to see what he was telling me about.  I really wanted a boot but don't want it to fly off when driving down the road because the snaps pull out.

    Thanks!

  9. Thanks for the suggestion but at this point I am going to hold off a while longer.  Although I will say, it looks like no one has any for sale or knows anyone reproducing them.  Next best option, is I have a set made from scratch.  if someone has a set of originals and could make drawings documenting the details and dimensions along with photos, I can then find a source to reproduce them.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  10. I am looking for a pair of the correct outside rear view mirrors for a 1937 Packard 120 Convertible Coupe.  They mount on the windshield frame with screws to fasten them in place.  I believe Jay Fischer reproduced them when he was alive but am not sure where his inventory went when he passed on or if anyone else is reproducing these mirrors. I am interested in original mirrors or reproductions.  With the tiny rear view window, it is near impossible to drive the car without outside mirrors of some type.

    Thanks.

  12. I am trying to identify the year of the cars in my Nash Sales Catalog.  I am guessing maybe 1932-33 but it is only an educated guess.  The catalog has individual pictures that I am thinking of mounting in frames for my office. I would like to put the year of the car along with model below the pictures.  Does anyone know the model year based on the attached photos?  The brochure appears to have a complete set of pictures of Advanced 8 and Ambassador 8 cars.  The picture with the people in it is the front of the folder that holds the set of pictures.IMG_0744.JPGIMG_0745.JPGIMG_0746.JPGIMG_0747.JPG

    Thanks,

  13. I am looking for a picture of the interior of a 1937 Packard 120 Convertible Coupe showing the area behind the seat where the leather on the back side of the seat attaches to the shelf to fill the gap.  I assume there is some slack or excess leather that allows the seat to move back and forth.

    Thanks!

  14. Does anyone know if the 37 Packard 120 Convertible Coupe with rumble seat come with a shelf in the trunk located right over the spare tire?  If so, what material was it made out of and what did it look like?  Dimensions?  I believe sedans had a shelf of some sort but not sure about the convertible coupes due the space taken up by the rumble seat.

    Thanks,

    Bob

  15. Because so many 37 Packard 120 Convertible Coupes have the rear windows that can be opened so passengers in the front seat can talk to passengers on the rumble seat even with the top up, does that mean it was an option or maybe even standard that rear windows could be opened up?  Or is this something that restorers started based on 50's designs.
