  1. I think I've reached an age where projects, except for writing projects, are no longer a good idea, no matter how enticing. Thanks for the info! Mike
  2. Great information. It's good to know about a car that made it off our continent - that'll be in the article. Thanks! Mike
  3. Thanks for the pic and note - this one probably is a bit too rough for a profile. Good to know where it is, though. Mike
  4. Thank you - I'm in touch with them, and they've expressed an interest in working with me. Mike
  5. Frank: Thank you so much for the contact information. I also got your voice mail, and I'll contact those you recommended. I'm getting a great response, and I'm looking forward to photographing some of the cars. I'll be in Pennsylvania in a couple weeks - the same area code as for Kyle Eaton - so I'm going to try to see him. Again, thank you for the information. Wish I could visit with you and see your car, but you're a bit far. Sincerely, Mike
  6. That would be a great one to find and profile - anyone know where it is? Mike
  7. I've been to the Gilmore a couple times a few years ago. I'll have to look at my photos to see if I got a pic of it. Thanks! Mike
  8. Thank you, Bob. I'll give them a call next week - I won't bother them late on a Friday afternoon. Mike
  9. Thank you, John. I was at the Lamay in July and saw the car. It was a little before I read the book and got the idea to do an article on his cars. Mike
  10. I'm Mike Hemsley, and I write and photograph for Vintage Road & Racecar magazine. I recently read a book about Eddie Rickenbacker, and I believe an article on one of the cars that bear his name would make a great article. I would like to do a profile for the magazine. A profile consists of: History of the marque ( and in this case Eddie Rickenbacker) History of the specific model Story of how the car came to be in the collection and any interesting information about the particular car. Still photography Car-to-car photography - of the car while moving Driving impressions - I will need to drive the car. I have been writing about automobiles since 1980. Until 2008, when I retired from the real world for the third time, it was a sideline. Now it's my job - a job that I love. I have driven cars as old as a 1919 Layat Helico propeller car and as new as a Ferrari 512 bbi. Cars of the '20s I have driven include a Voison and a Tracta E. I live in Chattanooga, TN, so a car in the eastern half of the US is preferable, but I'll consider any. You can reach me at jmichaelhemsley@gmail.com or 571-239-7288 Thanks you! Mike Hemsley
