  1. Good to know Ronnie! Looks like I will just keep the resister on there for as long as possible then! Thank you so much guys, seriously. Very grateful to have this Reatta community. Amir
  2. I just got off the phone with him yesterday and he informed me of your conversation and it turns out that it is the Photocell! Phew! What a relief!! Thank you everyone for all the help and guidance. That was what was indeed causing the problems. He put a resister on the BCM to solve the problem and said it should be ok with just using that since there is no Twighlight feature on the 89 REATTA. He told me that fixing the photocell is an easy thing to do but there would be a 50/50 chance of breaking the defroster vent if he was to try and reach the photocell and try and fix it. I am assuming that there is not any long term negative/downside to just having the resister on the BCM correct? Since according to my mechanic there is no Twighlight function. Amir
  3. I believe so... but I have to double check. From what I remember they seemed to work when I opened the door to get in the car but not when I turn on the car. I will pick up the car tomorrow and find out!
  4. Wow, guys thank you so much for all the support and info! The headlight switch when moved all the way to the right does nothing for illuminating the lights in the car. Also, by lights, I mean the lights that illuminate the buttons(hazard, drive, park, windshield wipers, etc.). My mechanic said that he has checked every wire through and through and is left with believing that it has to be the BCM. I have not troubleshooted through the CRT screen yet, but will get the car back from the mechanic in the next day or two and find out what codes are showing up. Also, the instrument cluster seems to be lit up either way whether its at night or during the day. There isn't a change in its "brightness" when I move the panel light from left to right. Amir
  5. Does the 89 have a BCM in there you'd be willing to sell me? Mine pooped out and I need a replacement.
  6. You willing to part out the car? I am looking for a BCM(body control module)... Would love to buy it off you if you're up for it!
  7. Hey Guys, A few months ago I bought a 89 REATTA and it looks like all the lights inside the car don't illuminate at night. I took it to my mechanic and he checked everything out(switch, wires, etc) and he concluded that the issue is my BCM. Now I am also aware that my odometer is in the BCM and I don't want to mess with the milage since its luckily very low. I have a few questions... 1 - Will changing my BCM ruin my odometer reading? 2 - Do I need to do any additional programming to the new BCM for it to work with my car? The GM dealerships around me say that if programming is needed, they don't have the tools to help me out if this is a needed step. (but honestly these guys don't know anything about the car so its kind of pointless to even talk to them) 3 - Does anyone have a BCM for sale that would work with a 89 REATTA? I'd love some help with these questions! Hoping someone has had to change a BCM at some point. Thanks fellas!
  8. Hey Guys, So I recently bought a 1989 buick reatta and I sent it to M&R audio to repair the cassette player and I received it back with a strange humming noise whenever I play a cassette. I know its not my speakers because I don't get that sound when I am playing the radio. It just happens with the tape player. Also, I the door of the cassette player makes an electricity sound whenever I have my center console eject the tape player... If any one knows how to fix one or both of these issues, I'd love some advise! Would beat having to ship the darn thing all the way back to Michigan, since I live in Ca.
