My 65 sending unit works well, but I noticed the thin strip is partially cracked. Has anyone tried to solder the strip together. Also, I need a new gasket, does anyone sell just the gasket? Thanks for any help.

I am trying to remove the brake booster from my 65 Riv but I can't get the piston rod off the brake pedal. I also want to know if the rubber boot that surrounds the rod goes through the firewall and how to remove it without damaging it as well. My booster is painted black and I think it's original. Is black color correct or was mine painted somewhere along the way. Lastly, can anyone recommend someplace for me to have the master cylinder and booster rebuilt. I'm in Los Angeles but don't mind sending it out if that the best choice. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a 65 Riviera that I'm trying to remove the brake booster from. But, I can't get the push rod off the brake pedal inside the car. Also, will I have to remove the rubber seal around the rod that appears to go through the firewall. If so, how? Any step be step advice will be greatly appreciated. Last question: my booster is painted black. Is that the correct original finish or were these anodized gold as I see sometimes?
