  1. All Cross-engine Franklins used outwardly identical carburetors characterized by the float-chamber cover on the bottom, needle valve between the float and sprays, an air-lift valve, and an external throttle. The implementation may differ from the patent which took ten years to award.
  2. There is an almost "false fire-wall" panel floating under the hood that holds the Startix and other electrical fiddly bits. I wish that I had a picture or drawing but when I saw one, it struck me as a kludge to get things to work under duress.

  11. Incorrect! The car can be listed in the register whether its owner is a member of The H.H. Franklin Club or not and we encourage anyone who even KNOWS about a Franklin to contact the Club (via its website) to update the register. We need to know the chassis number or the engine number as a minimum. Personal information is not listed for owners who are not club members. That said, we would like to see all owners join the club.
  12. The instructions in the S-12 manual are similar to those in the S-11 Manual and will get you down to the "grinding-valve" or "setting the timing gear" level but a detailed workshop manual in the modern sense was not issued by the factory. There is a separate "Troubleshooter's" book for S-9/S-10 and a "Hints and Suggestion" for 1903 to Series-1. The Parts books will let you find the numbers to look up factory drawings that the Club has.
