  1. Does anyone in the London ON area have a good used TH400 tranny for a 72 Riviera? Mine needs a complete rebuild.
  2. interesting. I've never heard of that. Always was a lever or cable. Must be only the TH400. Ok thanks.
  3. Hi all, I've restored this car and runs great, however, I cannot find a kick down cable or where it would go. Does it even have one? I'm sure it must. There is a vacuum line that goes down to the modulator.
  4. I'm going to reroute the pcv to the air breather. Anyone have a pic of their riviera setup? I've only ever seen the pcv in the rocker cover.
  5. Update. thought it was fixed but wasn't. Ran great at idle but ran awful when in gear. Turns out, the PCV valve (in the intake???) ran to the front of the old carb. I disconnected that on my edelbrock and plugged it. Now it runs awesome.
  6. likely yes. Can't test the theory as I took the old one in for the core charge. Nothing wrong with a new distributor though. Now it's time to paint.
  7. Sorry for my delay. Larry, I'm in London ON. Fell into this 72 Riviera that was purchased in 1973 and parked in the barn in 1977. Frank, new points. Everything original except for 1 sleeve I had to install. My issue is resolved. I hooked up a timing light and found the flash was intermittent (new cap rotor points plugs and wires). Yanked distributor and got a new one. Runs awesome now. Housing was likely worn...loose cap and spark was jumping around.
  8. Hi all. I just finished a complete rebuild and have the motor installed. It runs terrible. Sputters and shakes like crazy. It will only idle. New carb (edelbrock 650). Fuel pump is working. Tried reinstalling distributor many times. I've actually ordered a new one. Question, when I installed crank and cam, I lined up the dots but can the crank be out 180 degrees? TDC compression shows timing slot right on zero. Also, using a timing light, the spark is intermittent.
  9. It is a good battery without cables. I got 1/4 revolution and it ceased again. Starter will turn it up until that point. I will let it soak there for another couple days and then pull the starter to see. I'd hate to break a ring. I'm in London ON.
  10. Hi all. Brand new to the forum. I just got a 72 Riv. It's the true definition of "barn find". One owner. Bought it in 73 and parked it in 77. It sat there ever since. Body is is pretty good shape. Interior is awesome. Motor is ceased though (or so I thought). I could not turn it by the crank bolt so I pulled the pugs and poured diesel fuel in and left it overnight. Then I mixed tranny fluid and acetone and soaked that for 2 days. Still can't turn it. Neither can the starter. I think the motor might be ok though because I pulled the cover off the bell housing and found it packed solid with insulation. After picking away at it, I still can't turn it by the crank bolt BUT I can turn it effortlessly by the flywheel. I mad a 1/4 revolution and it started puking out my mixture in the cylinders so I know it's rotating. Yet, the starter still can't turn it over. Any thoughts or concerns?
