  1. Several times my 1931 Model A Ford would not start and the starter would heat up. I was told by another Model A owner to rocked the car in third gear and it would unlock.. And it worked. Was it the starter or engine that locked? And how can it be avoided?
  2. Thanks folks for your comments on my Model A overheating. I am happy to say, (and somewhat lucky) after spraying PD Blaster in each cylinder thru the spark plug opening and the next day transmission fluid mixed with kerosine, I was able to rock the engine free. I don't know if it was the engine locked or the starter. I just heard a pop and the car moved about a foot. The starter now worked, so I turned over the engine with the plugs in but without the coil wires attatched to removed all the fluid from the engine. Most of the fluid came out of the tail pipe. Some is in the oil pan. I plan to change the oil today. My question now is should I flush the engine before starting or just start the engine and let what chemicals are still in the block burn off. I know it will burn off thru the exhaust so I plan to push the car outdoors. Please advise.
  3. MY 1931 MODEL A RECENTLY OVERHEATED AND LOST ANTIFREEZE WHILE DRIVING. I PARKED IT IN MY GARAGE, LET THE ENGINE COOL, THEN ADDED 1 1/2 GALLONS OF 50/50 ANTIFREESE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT RAN FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS AND THEN STOPPED. CHECKED BATTERY AND STARTER. STARTER OVERHEATED FROM TRYING TO START ENGINE. TRIED TO CRANK ENGIINE MANUALLY. WOULD NOT CRANK. MOTOR LOCKED. PLEASE ADVISE TO THE PROBABLY CAUSE AND HOW TO UNLOCK ENGINE. THANKS....DAVINCI
