  1. Hello! While any leftover material will be going back into storage, you are more than welcome to inquire after the show. At that point, feel free to contact us regarding what type(s) of material you are looking for. Thanks for your interest, and have a great weekend!
  2. Hello Mr. Sarver, I checked out files on Plymouth trucks. We have a small handful of literature pertaining to the 1940 but, unfortunately, we do not have any Plymouth truck owner's manuals. For tracking down such a manual, you may want to consider reaching out to the American Truck Historical Society's (ATHS) Zoe James Memorial Library, whose collection is entirely devoted to trucks and commercial vehicles. Here is a link to the contact form via the ATHS website. Under "message subject," make sure to select the Zoe James Memorial Library. Contact Us – American Truck Historical Society (aths.org) You could also try the WPC Club: WPC Club Contact Form (chryslerclub.org) Or Fiat Chrysler Historical Services: Where can I find information on vintage cars and parts? (force.com) Sorry that we didn't have exactly what you were looking for, but we hope one or more of these resources are able to help point you in the right direction. Thanks and best regards, Matthew Hocker Librarian & Volunteer Coordinator
  3. @DFeeney, your order was packed on Friday and left in the mailing room. Thanks for the order! @drwatson, I'm currently working from home so I don't have the exact year at the moment. The Chilton Catalog and Directories are kind of unique, in that they include some data, along with a lot of advertising from various parts manufacturers/services, including a directory with addresses, etc. I do know that we had a couple from the 1920s. Here's an example someone listed from 1928, to give you a rough idea of what's inside. https://www.ebay.com/itm/April-1928-Chilton-Catalog-And-Directory/153471656333?hash=item23bb9fa18d:g:RBcAAOSwwstbbZqx If this type of a book is of interest to you, please send a message through the forums or email me at mhocker@aaca.org.
  4. @Klughterfo, which book(s) are you looking for? Are you referring to Checkered Flag or another title/set of titles? Please let me know, and I'll have a look. @DFeeney, thanks for your question. The prices are on the list - My guess is that you need to expand the window of the spreadsheet. You might even need to scroll horizontally to see it. Prices are listed in the 7th column. If they still aren't showing up, please feel free to send me a direct message with your interests, and I'll send you the prices. UPDATES ON THE SALE 1. The list has not been up to date since October, as we sold several books during Hershey Fall Nationals and added many more titles to the shelf since then. The list was an experiment, but it became increasingly challenging to keep up with on top of our regular duties. We are keeping the list up as a reference point for pricing data, etc. That being said, we welcome anyone to inquire about books in stock, be it on the list or otherwise. 2. 50% OFF SALE - We recently announced a 50% off sale on all of our books. This applies to anything on the list, books that aren't yet on the list and (currently) items in our eBay store. In our initial post, we offered free domestic (U.S.) shipping on book orders of $50 or more. We will continue doing so in the anticipation of our upcoming move. The offer for free shipping does not extend to books on our eBay store, as the eBay store is handled separately. However, if you see something you like and would like to add it to your order, drop me a line and, so long as the book is still in stock, we will remove the listing from eBay and extend the discount if your order meets the requirements.
  5. @rjp sorry for not replying. I don't always think to check in this section, as we receive most questions via email or over the phone. I did check, and the AACA Library does have information on the 1917 Dort. However, it's dependent on what type of information you are looking for. We have two pieces of factory sales literature - a 26 page catalog and a double-sided specifications sheet. There are also two pages of specs from the Lester-Steele Handbook of Automobile Specifications, and this is likely a file on Dort in the Dunwoodie Archive (which, depending on the contents, may include copies of period trade journal articles, historical articles, appraisal notes, letters of correspondence on history and/or photographs. If you would like to purchase copies of any of this, please send me a direct message or call the AACA Library at 717-534-2082. If you are an AACA member, please have your membership number handy so that this will count to your 1.5 hours of free research with the library. You would only pay for copies and shipping & handling. Thanks and best regards, Matthew Hocker Assistant Librarian
  6. @John S., thanks for ordering those remaining brochures. I saw your email and wanted to let you know that I'm glad to hear you received and enjoyed them!
  7. Hi @rwchatham. None for sale, but we do have a 1959 upholstery album in the collection if you plan on coming in for research.
  8. Yes, if you are looking to bulk up on literature, the AACA Library's Tuesday sale is going to be great. 20% off everything, including random and themed bundles. Lots of rare data books and color & upholstery albums this year, too!
  9. Good morning, @Terry Bond You are welcome to come and look through the periodicals at the library any time. Sorry to hear you can't make it during Hershey Fall Nationals this year, but it's understandable; it's a huge event. For something like period newspaper articles or original photos, I would suggest reaching out to the following organizations: PA State Archives Historical Society of Dauphin County
  10. This list has been updated! - Over 70 titles have been added to the list, a few of which are replacements for books that were out of stock.
  11. Over the past year, the AACA Library has been selling books to help raise money. These books are duplicates of titles already in the collection. This post has been edited to reflect our current offer. You might remember our volunteer Bruce Vaughn compiled a list of over 1,000 books for sale and that these books were NOT available through our eBay store. While the list is still up, it hasn't been updated since October. There were a number of titles sold during the Hershey Fall National, and we have added plenty more since then. We have decided to leave the list up as a reference point but, if there is a specific title you are looking for, please feel free to contact regardless of whether or not it's on the list. 50% Off All Books!: That's right, folks! In anticipation of our upcoming move, we are slashing prices of books in half. We recently announced this sale and are eager to give some good reads equally good homes. As of this edit (03/18/20), we are also running a 50% off sale on eBay, with the sale encompassing books, shop manuals, owner's manuals, sales literature, reproduction factory photographs and more. The List: Click HERE to view the complete list. If you are interested in finding specific titles, makes, authors, etc. you can search the document. To bring up the search bar, click on one of the fields. Then hold the "CTRL" plus "F" keys. To start, it's best to keep your searches general (ie: author's last name before first and last name). Condition: Due to the amount of time involved, we did not include in-depth condition descriptions. The list does note whether or not the book has the original dust jacket (sometimes denoted as a "sleeve"). If you have questions about a specific book please let us know. Shipping & Handling: Media Mail - The default method for shipping books within the U.S. Prices are very reasonable, but shipping times can vary from a few days to a few weeks (over a month on very rare occasions). For time-sensitive orders, please consider USPS Priority Mail. FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. on all book orders of $50 or more. (excludes books on eBay unless they are ordered outside the platform) OR free pick-up at the library (suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 epidemic) First Class International - The default method for shipping books internationally. Weight limit is less than 4 lbs before being bumped up to Priority International. This can get pricey very fast. More information: Call: 717-534-2082 Email: mhocker@aaca.org
  12. @aspares, thanks for your interest in the event! We may be able to accommodate your request, but it is entirely dependent on how busy we are. The books on the shelves in the reading room will be immediately accessible regardless of how busy we are. The literature will be in a different location, requiring one of the staff to be present. If the weather is really good, foot traffic in the library is usually lighter. When it rains, it can turn into a packed house. We are more than happy to grant you access to the sales items, so long as we are able to. One more thing to add is that, in order to keep things fair, we will have to honor the event pricing and are unable to offer any further discounts. If you can, I would suggest coming first thing in the morning when we open at 8am or giving us a call to see how busy things are because, believe me, I definitely want to show you around! 🙂
  13. Hello, If you are an AACA member, you are eligible for 1.5 hours of free research. Just send an email with your membership number to mhocker@aaca.org Please include pictures of the models in question, along with the period you believe they date from. I will say that, at best, we may be able to date them. I searched the patent numbers you provided but didn't turn anything up. For interchangeability on pre-war cars, the Lester Steele Handbook of Automobile Specifications is a great resource and covers model years 1915-1942. Many of the specifications lists identify the manufacturers of equipment, so you might be able to see the different cars which used the same generator. If you happen to live close enough, it might be worth visiting the library for more in-depth research. -Matt Hocker, Assistant Librarian
  14. Hello everyone! Do you want to help build the car enthusiasts of tomorrow? The AACA Library is looking for donations of used LEGO parts, sets, etc. We would like to use them in a children's play area for our August 24th Kickin' Cancer Cars & Coffee Event. We plan on hosting children's activities, and one of the things we would like to have is a LEGO building area. This would provide children the opportunity to build their own little cars to show off alongside the "big kids!" The library will continue to use these bricks for future children's activities. "Kickin' Cancer: A Cars & Coffee Event" will be held on August 24th from 8am-noon at the future home of AACA headquarters. Proceeds will benefit Ryan Packer and his family in his fight against Leukemia. More information on the event can be found here: http://kickincancer.aaca.com/ If interested in donating LEGO bricks to the cause, please contact Matthew Hocker at 717-534-2082 or mhocker@aaca.org
  15. @gerard down unda Hi Gerard. Sorry for not seeing this until now. Can you please send an email to Matthew Hocker (me) at mhocker@aaca.org with more information/details? The library does offer research services for $30 per hour, plus a $10 processing fee. AACA members receive their first 1.5 hours of research for free. I would need to discuss things with you further to determine what your precise needs but, based on what you are looking for, this sounds like it might be on the longer side timewise. Drop me an email when you have a chance, and I'll see what we can do. Thanks and best regards, Matthew Hocker Assistant Librarian
  16. Hi Terry, You are correct, in that the AACA Library eBay Store's prices were adjusted to reflect the current situation with shipping rates going up. Our previous pricing was no longer sustainable under the new rates. There was another good reason for the change, in that it clears up some confusion over eBay's "add to cart" button. A lot of people choose buy-it-now, which requires immediate payment on each individual item. Leaving everything with free shipping clears that part up. I am currently working on revising all the listings, so that sales literature and photographs will have free shipping - with bulk order discounts. eBay has a tiered pricing system, in which we can set it up so that anyone buying more than one item can receive a discount on a sliding scale. ie: Buy one of more photos, get 15% off your order. Buy two or more, get 20% off your order. It simplifies the workflow. I don't know if we will be doing this with the books yet, as Media Mail is already fairly cheap. If someone wants to buy multiple photos in person or over the phone, we are happy to go buy the old price, plus shipping. For eBay, we had to change the listings to what would be more practical and, these days, free shipping has become the norm with many online retailers. Best Regards, Matthew Hocker Assistant Librarian
  17. January is a time for resolutions, and we are set on clearing out our stash of extra items! We are currently running an eBay auction of 260 pieces of automotive literature, including the likes of 1950s Porsche brochures, prewar owner's manuals, rare dealer data books, and much more. 21. Yesterday's yard sale fundraising event was a success. In a three hour period, we managed to raise $10,000! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this happen, including our wonderful team of volunteers. Their hard work and dedication help make this event possible. While this year's yard sale is over, we still have plenty of books for sale at the library. If you are looking for a good deal, you might want to head over to the antique mall, Black Swan Antiquities in nearby Palmyra. Black Swan has over 60 vendors, including the AACA Library. This week, all items in the AACA Library booth are on sale. From now through Saturday, Black Swan will have extended hours and will remain open from 10 AM through 7 PM. Click here to visit their website.
  22. @charlier, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it this year. Feel free to send us your "most wanted" list. When things start to wind down after Hershey week, I can have a look through our leftovers. (Unlike Thanksgiving leftovers, these leftovers are good year-round!)
  23. Thanks, @Peter J.Heizmann . I filled him in on the details.
