  1. Chet has fantastic guides on how he rebuilt his. This silver dome will get totally gone through. I'm sure the valve guides, valves etc. are shot. It kind of has a warm knock, thinking bearing. I am familiar with the old stuff, actually have a really early Waukesha engine at the Babbitt shop right now. I'll let this thread die, see ya on Chet's forum.
  2. I have an original 29 sedan and the steering components (drag link) are the same on both cars. Good to see your touring out and in use. This roadster was actually Frank P's. He was member here and on Chet's site. I see you are on Chet's forum as touring29. I am crazydave over there. I have driven 3 different 29Us. You really can get feel for how wore they are by how the transmission shifter feels, how the doors hang and close etc. My old original 29U sedan is actually the tightest, but the engine needs an overhaul. The blow by is terrible, but it still runs good.
  3. I know It has been recently updated to the correct one, with a nice original.
  4. I'll ask what she wants for it and get a few pictures.
  5. So it’s what mine should look like. (If I have to run the colors by the wife) 👍 This one also has the incorrect wire wheels, I think. Hubcap covers the lug nuts.
  6. Eric, I see you are in MN. Have you contacted Rudy in Forest Lake? He does repairs and restorations for some top shops around the country. Mostly centered around old tractors, but has does everything. Pretty good odds he may have one at his shop. Tell him Dave W sent you. http://www.rebuiltmags.com/
  7. Since this thread is already derailed and I can't send a PM yet, I have to ask if this is the correct paint for the 29 roadster? Ardsley Green & Swap Holley Orange? I recently acquired a 29 roadster that is painted black, with cream wire wheels. But under a paint chip in the door jamb its green. And ply33 lists Ardsley as the correct green color for a 29. Some day the car will need a repaint and original is always a consideration.
  8. I know where there is a reproduction cap that probably can be bought. I will be dealing with them soon, so if you are interested let me know and I can get some pictures.
  9. There search by car tool comes up with no results. Have to search it out by size, style etc. Here is what I put on the other year https://www.cokertire.com/tires/styles/antique/firestone-bias-ply-19-21-inch-blackwall.html Other 20" options https://www.cokertire.com/tires/styles/antique.html?shop_width_bias_ply=11138&tire_rim_diameter=120&tire_type_multi=10831
  10. Welcome. There are a handful of us with 28/29 Plymouth sedans, roadsters etc. around. Mine found me about 4 years ago. A completely original car, parked (inside) since the 50's. I have been slowly going through the issues as time and money allow. I'm keeping it period correct and hunting down original parts. There is a site specific to the 28 & 29 Plymouth's with a lot of knowledgeable guys, and posted information. Much of the information you seek is posted there. My resto thread http://www.1948plymouth.info/28Q29U/index.php?topic=811.0 Site home page http://www.1948plymouth.info/28Q29U/index.php I am currently in the process of wrapping up my rewire so I have wiring diagrams for the car and the switch. I think the info is on the site, if not I can scan it and post it. I would go on ebay and snag and original or reproduced owners manual for the car. They have a lot of info in them. I think I paid 20 bucks for descent original one. My car has the 20" tires which seem to have fewer buying options than the others. I used Coker tire and have no complaints about the service. Good luck!
  11. Taylormade's is offset to the left (the drive) when looking at the side that mounts to the block, which is correct for the 29 silver domes. I happen to have opposite base in great condition, which I have no use for. Not sure exactly what is was from, it was an attempt to get the right part for my car before I had. Dimensions are the same, just kind of a mirror image. Maybe right for the Maxwell. I can take pictures of the opposite base if there is any interest. I am currently using the drive shaft from it in a homemade base.
  12. I'm not far away, I'll have to come by and check it out.
