I OWN A 1929 COMMANDER MODEL FD.
I PURCHASED IT WITH OUT THE IGNITON KEY. THE ON OFF LEVER WORKS GOOD.
I HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE TO A CERTIFIED LOCKSMITH AND HE HAS FAILED TO MAKE A KEY FOR IT.
SO I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE A NEW CYCLINDER WITH KEY OR AT LEAST ONE THAT WORKS.
ALSO INSTURCTRIONS ON REPLACING THE CYCLINDER.
ANY HELP OUT HERE?
I went to start my 1929 Commander ant the lever of the ignition switch just broke. Pot metal does not last forever.
I am hoping that one out there in Studebaker land would have one to sell me.
thanks for your consideration .

I have restored a 1929 Model FD an eight cylinder model.
I have had problems, as parts are not easy to find. However by posting ads here and in the THE ANTIQUTE STUDEBAKER REVIEW. I have located them. Other 1929 owners are of great help.
It is a rewarding experience to restore a car not running and get it back on the street.
Good luck.
Dave
I think you are started in the right direction.
Using this forum to obtain parts was useful for me when I started to restore my 1929 Commander. I also join the Antique Studebaker club and meet some great owners of 29 commanders and I placed wanted ads in the magazine.
Yes, please post a photo of your car.
