  1. I am selling my spare trans. This is a 1937 Buick Century case with a '51 gear gut installed along with the '51 tail stock. All the gears are in great shape and not abused as is typical of this vintage piece, I did add a new input shaft bearing while assembling. Comes with the '51 ^ bell housing and a clutch arm equipped with a throw out bearing. Rear drive line yoke included as well. $900 + the ride. PM with any questions.
  2. Looking for a good used 1319382 GM cluster gear from a selector trans 51-56 with 21, 17 16 teeth. 56 Pontiac cluster will work as well.
  3. I will if it comes to that but the last time I had to it took months to find one and it had a rusted out gut. As it turns out the 21 tooth gear I need is actually from a 51-56 according to the data I have received. That GM part number is 1319382. So much for listening to the seller on this tranny. In fairness it did have the larger later output shaft but a mixture of parts mixed in. Fortunately, I have a very nice earlier output shaft and tail stock so I can put this back to original spec if I can locate that cluster.
  4. I have a 57 selector trans apart that apparently needs a new cluster gear. The one I took out has 21, 17 and 16 teeth. it should be a gm part number 1189189 gp. 4.421 according to my United Delco transmission parts book. I have located one on that auction site with the same part number but it has 20, 17 and 16 teeth. All the other dimensions are the same. This tranny has been around the horn so to speak so I cannot be sure that it has not been modified in it's previous life. Q Will this work in this tranny or will the input gear need to be changed as well??
  5. After much research and a bunch of calls to various sources, I found that RAM clutches sells a replacement #406 that was in stock in SC although I got mine thru Summit where I have an account. The 10 spline 1 1/4 disc I had to get from an 89 Super Duty Ford with the diesel engine, go figure!
  6. I need a new clutch for my 56 324. Anyone know what clutches will crossover and work. It has been said that a Ford 11 inch 3 finger B&B style will work but no one has provided any further info. Any suggestions???
  7. Haha, not my car. Was helping a forum buddy that was looking for mains. I sent him your info on May 4th. Havent heard from him.
  8. Thanks fellas for the input. As it turned out I found one in my stash of misc. parts for the Olds/Buick trannies. Got lucky for sure. I did manage to find a NOS synchro and second gear but no luck on the tail stock bushing. In checking the existing I found the tolerance to be acceptable. We will see how all this goes.
  9. Any ideas where I can locate a set of .010 mains for a 365 Cad?
  10. Anyone know where I can source the 1174810 thrust washers for the 2nd gear in a 57-61 standard trans? Olds obsolete has none and none show up in a google search on the web.
  11. Thanks Glenn for looking that up. I have a 56 shop manual and it shows a special tool J-1450-4 and J-1450-5 to remove and to install a new bushing, The 57 bushing is larger as the shaft is quite stout as compared to the 56 and earlier units so I doubt it would work. Perhaps GM wanted one to replace the entire assembly? This trans jumps out of 2nd on coasting. Other than that, it works fine and the gears all look good. I have a NOS synchro and 2nd gear on its way but would like to have been able to replace that bushing.
  12. I have a 57 Olds standard trans apart for repair and would like to replace the bushing for the tail shaft in the rear housing. The casting number on the ext housing is 1173968-1 Can someone give me the GM part number for this bushing. Thanks
  13. that would be a good idea.....car is in southern VT just off RT 9 1 hour east of Albany, NY. We have a rollback and could move the car to Albany easily, or to Pittsfield, MA if it helps.
  14. Time to send this down the road. Been lots of interest but nobody stepping up. Lots of good parts. Look it over one more time and let me know if you can't live without it. We were going to take it to Hershey but that deal fell thru. $800 and it's yours.
  15. UPDATE! Still have this '51 in the yard. Lots of interest but no one has produced any $$. Surely someone can use this vehicle, We were thinking of taking it to Hershey but that thought has faded. Hate to see this go to the crusher.
  16. I owned a '53 years ago, I should have remembered that. Ha! Thanks for the post.
  17. Saved this from the crusher. Will sell in pieces or the whole car. Let me know what you need. Missing the front grill but everything else seems to be there. SS is in good shape and it has the clock in the steering wheel. ( I have no idea why these pics are upside down)
  18. These dimple valve covers are NOS and have never been installed on an engine. I will ship these and insure them in the lower 48 states for $750. You will not find a nicer pair. If additional pics are required by any interested party just pm me with the request. I take Paypal and/or USPS money orders.
